He's got a point though.. It won't look bad but it won't "LOOK" as big when it's sitting by itself, But it will be..

Opinions are like assholes! Everyone has one and most of them stink!

where do you guys find these threads about the 8" axle vs. the 8.4"? I've heard people say its weaker but I can't find anything when I search about it.

I know all about the diff's, just curious to see first hand accounts of it sucking.

Let's be honest, most of us do not wheel hard enough to warrant a different rear locker than the e-locker. North Alabama just doesn't have enough stuff. Everything I've found online is that the 8" with e-locker is perfectly fine for 33's. And I'll be honest, if i'm going to lock something front and rear, I plan on attacking rocks with at least some 37's. Definitely not going to happen with my truck and definitely not anytime soon.

I'm still just considering getting a TRD OR because it is more likely that I see the need to use a locker maybe once a year and if I'm buying used, any TRD package doesn't really up the value.

Marc and Spencer run the 05+ TRD OR E-Locker in their front axles.. ECORS F-Toy drivers.

That's kinda where I was when I bought mine. Yeah an ARB in an 8.4 may be a little beefier, but for the terrain and type of driving I'm planning on doing, the e-locked 8 is fine. I really am kinda jonesing for a FZJ80 on 35's and fully locked if I'm honest. I just don't want to have a vehicle with 150k+ miles that I then put 15k a year on (getting 12mpg) as a daily driver... damn you, logic and reason.

A really good friend of mine just sold his Tahoe and got an 80. Aussie rear, ARB air front, Iron pig skids, 35" Geolanders and Trailready beadlocks. It is absolutely the most offroad capable DD I have ever ridden in, driven, and seen wheel. Oh, and not 12 mpg...more like 8.

Yeah... I was a bit optimistic on the MPG, lol. I'll own a 60 or an 80 at some point, hopefully. Maybe sell the Taco and get an 80 and a mini cooper for DD or something, lol.

I've got a friend with a 60 and a 5.3 vortec swap with an H55 on 35's locked f/r with (I think) 5.29's. It's stout. Lots of power relative to what they came with stock.

offer 23,500. remember when dealing you can always offer more if they say no. if they take your first offer you offered too much. always try to make an offer you know they wont take then when they decline say something like.....well.....whats the closest to that number you can get? im on a budget. go for the white one man I'm lonely being the only superwhite one!

I was thinking offering that as well. I'm pretty decent at haggling. Got almost 9k off on my last truck. If I get white I'm gonna have to at least color match the grill

Billies on all four corners with daystar spacer lift. Bought it like this. Replacing done with toytec ultimate 3" lift
I LOVE dealing with Hoover Toyota. That's where we bought Alex's truck and my mom's recent Runner. We got Alex's truck for 3k less than what they were asking and 2k less than what they were asking for her recent Runner. Alex's truck did have 168k on it when we bought it though. You can start off asking 24k for it and see what they come back at....

Ok just throwing it out there. Does it bother anyone else to buy something with high mileage?? Like 170k high mileage?? Just wondering because I can get a steal of a deal on a 00 4runner sr5 sport that I know has been taken care of and has recently had the timing belt and water pump replaced. Just scares me to think of that many miles on something that would be my DD. Thoughts??? Advice???

Hoover Toyota is where i bought mine.

If you don't mind replacing a seal here and there, or a gasket here and there. I'd go for it. It is a Yota afterall.
