We certainly still have some terrible areas, but Chief Zumalt has slowly but surely reduced all kinds of violent crime in the city over the last 6 or 7 years. I live in Park Circle so I'm a little insulated from the really bad stuff, but travel any and everywhere in the city with no problems.

 

I went to a mall in n chas and I had my hand on my buck knife the whole time haha

You should be used to that in Sumter:

Spartanburg’s ranking is the highest in the Palmetto State.
Myrtle Beach comes in at number 21, Florence at 24, Sumter at 36, North Charleston at 38, and Rock Hill at 93.

 

Don't, unless you can tolerate smoke. I smoke and it gets to be too much for me sometimes, but it is not so bad at happy hour (which is when I'm usually holding down a barstool).

 

My GF doesn't smoke and doesn't mind Madra Rua (especially on the smoke-free side)...I've been going there, too, since shortly after they opened. Spoke to Arleigh (bartender, leader of the Defilers) just last night.

 

What is this Sumter mall you speak of? Do you mean the select few stores inside a big building that's all carpet?
