You keep saying the only difference between manufacturers is the name stamped on the frame and grill, you really think the Toyota 5.7 and chevy 5.7 are the same and both will have the same longevity?

SAE standards are the same for all vehicles, issues with them are bad come from unknown engineering issues (most which can only been seen over time, as initial prototyping doesnot allow enough time for a lot of issues) & things that are sometimes over-looked. So yes, they are all suppose to have the same standards/tolerance etc.

its totally possible. again everything is based on how you treat it. im not saying that its guaranteed to be the same, but everything wears out and fails over time. nothing lasts forever man.

thank you! finally some one with a functioning brain cell!

how i made that statement matter of factly, i work in the underwater fabrication business for the government. i can tell you across the board all companys must meet a minimum requirement.... just like the car manufactures, the material manufactures (hence MTR's) etc....

SOLD the Tacoma. Landcruiser life now.
That is the whole point... they aren't equal. They don't make the same engines and there are pros and cons to manufactures and models. There is a beautiful economic system in our western world called capitalism which allows manufacturers to compete in a free market against each other. Which in turn means some vehicles are "better" than others from year to year. Better being a relative term of course... Well lets define it... Offroading and/or modifying trucks for offroad recreation. Some models, frames, engines, etc are naturally going to be better than others... and over time there might develop a pattern or placement of the top manufacturers for what we do (see: offroading). So saying if everyone made the same engine and frame they would all be the same, might be true... but it's simply not possible nor does it exist.

Yes they all have to meet a minimum requirement, but have you ever opened up a toyota tranny and a ford tranny? its amazing how much tighter the tolerances or in the toyota.
