The rinks she shoots at have no holes (except at the score keeper). The NHL games, can't use them as they're reserved for the media-but you can shoot warmups anywhere along the glass as long as you do not block spectator views.

One of the sheets of ice is the SJ Sharks practice ice-that one's glass absolutely sucks for shooting. Here's an example:

I took some pictures this weekend. Nothing really special. I tried to do the action/blur, but I think I had the shutter too slow. The best one I got had my stupid shadow got in it. The dogs make it hard too because there is so much motion other than straight lateral motion, so I dont know if I'll ever get what I really want with them as my subject. Anyway, here they are.

This calf was laying right next to the road. It was only a couple days old, with no mom around. We were going to just take it to the herd a couple hundred yards away, but decided to go find a rancher. The rancher looked for a mom too, but couldnt find one. So he loaded it up in the cab of his truck and took it back to his place to get it some colostrum.

Well if you want to go FF the go ahead and do it. With the D4 and D800 coming out you will find a D700 used in decent shape for about $1500. That[s just $300 more than the D7k. as for lenses the Sigma will work fine for a while.

Check this free camera app out from the fine folks at SmugMug.

Camera Awesome. Some very nice features included in the app. Seeing as how most apps cost money, this was a real surprise. It's on the App Store already.

Don't worry Android users. They say a version is coming for your phones too :D

Eh you dont need full frame. unless you plan on shooting Bill Boards. I know a ton of pro togs, that make a living shooting, and still use a Crop Censer.

In my opinion, what matters more is composition (and all that other techie stuff). FF or Crop body? Can you compose the shot? Doesn't really matter.

And before everyone gets all technical, yes. Technical specs matter but just because they are "better" does not mean you need them in a camera body.

And arguably, they are not worth paying a premium for.

shooting a fuul frame camera doesnt make you a better photographer. plain and simple, FF doesnt make you any more or less professional or not professional either. its all about how you shoot not what you shoot
