The general consensus was that it does nothing for you the difference is about a tenth of a second. However this is on the Audi forum. So it my be different for tacomas

In the "Annual Toyota Edition" of "4X4 Garage" they tested one on a '06 V8 4 Runner on page 60...let me give you the details of step "3".

then they talk about it having three modes and having a easy to attach push button and it's SMOG legal and doesn't affect the ECU in any way...

Sprintbooster is not meant to make your truck any faster. It is meant to alter throttle feel so your truck "feels" faster. On the Mercedes forums, people swear by it.

ive been eyeballing this as well..I absoloutely hate the "lag" on this throttle by wire bullshit. But, for $330 I may have to live with it, plus its not available for the 6 speeds, yet.

Yeah, it's claim to fame is eliminating any fly-by-wire throttle lag and makes the FBW rates a bit more aggressive. It's not a performance chip or any HP booster. It might be nice to eliminate the "fluffyness" off idle and for all I know might help the manual drivers with their 1st to 2nd shift by getting the ECU to react a bit quicker....IDK. To me, it's a truck.

Eh, they have them for manuals for the '09 up but not '05-'08's...wonder wtf the difference is? I see them for $299 on their website, where'd the 330 come from?

Sounds like unless you spend a lot of time at the track or trying to shave your 1/4 mile times, it's not really worth it... :notsure:

This is mch like the weapon R I-throttle. All it does is change the speed at wich the throttle butterfly opens, in relation to the foot peddle. Most vehicles with FBW throttles have a inverse curve, meaning that it slowly opens the throttle butterfly inversly to the application by your foot. Up to a pre set opening, then it becomes a "1 to 1" response. manufactures do this to try and make the car more "drivable". The new Hondas are really bad about this, as a 1/3 press on the peddle only opens the throttle about 1/8 amount. The throttle on the Tacoma seems to open very proportionatley to the throttle peddle.....at least mine does. As for the one on the Honda (once again, my car), the throttle seems to "learn" driving style, and opens accordingly. When new, the throttle response was horrible. However, It became noticably more improved with time. Now, its is instant.

It wouldnt make a difference. All it does is change how much the throttle opens at lower throttle opening settings. Planting your foot still gives WOT.

    Quick yahoo search:

    http://sprintboostersales.com/ -sells them for $330

    http://www.sprintbooster.us/ -sells for $299

Found another selling for $330...maybe getting 10% mark-up?

My truck was like this when I first got it..Previous owner must have been light on the throttle. When I step on the throttle, I want instant reaction, not delayed. Espically getting going from a stoplight. Just this morning I was almost rear ended when sitting at a stop light, and a newer camaro came speeding up behind me when I was letting out the clutch, waiting for the rpm's to come up. The lag is almost dangerous.

Just looked at the weapon r one, not really what I'm looking to get into. I dont need 7 way adjustments..I just want the throttle to be instant.

For example, If I stomp on the throttle, it takes a second or two for the rpm's to come up. If I "blip" the throttle to shift when slowing down, I have to press it harder then what I think is "normal"

Sometimes I just wish I had gotten the automatic, or I know the 01-04 is the same thing, but they seem more responsive.

I wonder if I disconnect the battery for 5 minutes if it would reset something and maybe help?

You can set the weapon R how you want it, then leave it be. no need to use all the adjustments.
