For pre-2010 auto tranny trucks , the recall brake override software is bundled with the old tranny tsb ecu reflash which addresses the odd shifting behaviour between 1st and 2nd at a rolling stop

So there is a benifit to some .

My truck doesn't have the shifting problem as it doesn't have the new downhill assist. However, for those that are annoyed by the downshifting behavior by all means get it fixed. You might not be able to opt for just this though and have to have the accelerator cut-off too. Personally, I like being able to have the brake pressed as I feed gas to prevent me from rolling backwards on steep hills. Sure, the vehicle won't roll back too far until the transmission catches but any rearward movement at all when a car is right behind you on a hill really freaks them out, and rightfully so.

Edit: I had an 03 for a couple of years and once messed around with changing the idle. I really messed it up on my first attempt and when the AC kicked in while out on the road the engine revved up to a roar. All I did, and it took me about a second to do so, was to put the transmission into neutral then coast to a stop on a side street where I hopped out and set the idle back to where it should have been. Like other posters, and the NTSB, have implied -- the vast majority of "defects" are actually defective users.

When I bought my truck the stock rubber driver's mat had a hole in it and the gas pedal was hacked due to an earlier attempt at the recall. If you read the new recall notice, note it states that a revised pedal is available, so are new rubber mats. Went to the dealer and requested the new pedal and the new floor mats, got both and am happy. Did not have to pay for new floor mats and no longer have a crappy cut off pedal. :) The new pedal definetly feels better under foot. Bring in the notice, you may have to read them the part that the customer may request a new pedal and floor mat even if they already have had the stock one hacked. If you truck did not come stock with rubber mats, you can at least get a new non-hacked pedal...

I don't have it either so :woot: Of course it could and most likely was the newer trucks were flashed with the new firmware for the tranny at the factory. What does having/not having DAC have to do with a rolling stop?

I may be wrong but it seems that I read somewhere that it was the it's the newer models with the fancier transmission features that had most of the the shifting problem. My 2006 shifts so smoothly that I can't even tell its shifting unless I look closely at the tach. This impressed me as I was a bit leery of switching over to an automatic after driving nothing but manuals for thirty years. I can coast into a stop smoothly with no shifting problems whatever and the truck has never been to a dealership since I bought it. Not all vehicles need TSBs; maybe I just got one without the glitch.

I've been going for over 56,125 miles now in my 2009, without a single problem. I ignored the recall, and have avoided the dealership to keep their mitts off my pedal.

I just got another recall notice letter from them today and that reminded me of this nonsense all over again. I gave them a call about it to see if I could get that stopped. The conclusion:

Me: "So you're telling me you're going to keep sending me these notices for the next 20 years?"
Cust. Service: "It's because it's a federals law. We has to. And this recall is not optional."
Me: "I'm gonna send them right back to you then!" :crapstorm:

Argh. They'll cut my pedal when they can pry it out from under my cold, dead foot. :infantry:

Now that they no longer actually cut the gas pedal but replace it with a new, shorter, one I suppose that I'll allow them to do the recall if I ever have my truck in a dealership. Other for free warranty work, however, I rarely set foot in dealerships once I purchase the vehicle. I suppose they will do the recall if I trade the truck in at a dealer.

Are they actually doing that, or do you have to let them barber the long one first, then beg for a new one?

I'll keep mine the way it is for now.

It would be to me, simply because I drive with my foot near the bottom of the peddle as it is. If they cut it short, I would likely just sit there, and press my foot into the floor, wondering why I no move forward....

Makes it harder to drive barefoot, too...

Besides, it's the principle of it. There's nothing wrong with my truck that they need to correct. I wore a hole through the AWFMs with the heel of my boot, so I replaced them with WeatherTechs. Now there's plenty of clearance!
