DRIVESHAFT FELL OUT OF MY 2012

I have a 2012 TXPro Quad Cab. The other day... I was driving 45mph and the driveshaft fell out of the transfer case. The shaft dropped, the car pole vaulted and tossed me into oncoming traffic. I have 10k worth of damage to the undercarriage alone.

A witness saw the car four feet in the air before I did a 180 in mid air and landed on a car.

Toyota said it could not have happened. REALLY, well then how the F was I 4 feet in the air with no one near me. They want to investigate my truck and this may take 60 days. It has already been 30 days.

Toyota recalled 10,000 Tundras last year for driveshaft issues but they are playing stupid with this. I am electing to get it fixed and it will be my mission to shit mouth Toyota from this day forward.

It happened to a couple other trucks on here while they were still under warranty. Toyota did fix them. It sucks though. Glad you're all right.

 

Its a production vehicle , sometimes one wil have a problem. I'm sure Toyota will take care of you. One could not expect them to just hand out cash all the time when something goes wrong. They are investigating, and you will be taken care of if what you say really happened.

Regardless of the cause. Im glad you are ok and I am sre that your truck will get fixed (or bought back depending on damage). 60 days is a long time but im not really surprised.

 

No injury at all... airbags never went off. Acutally, not a scratch on the truck itelf. I landed on a Toyota Camry and broke it's headlight and dented it's front bumper. A dent the size of an orange. So, Toyota coporate thinks that my truck has 10k of damage to the undercarriage from denting another car's bumper. I have replaced five heater fans in 20K miles, and this is the straw that breaks my back. If Toyota does not own up, I really will make it my mission to bring this to the public. Without a doubt, my truck was four feet in the air with no one around me for no reason.

saw that episode but i have seen it happen in person on a camaro at a drag strip near albany ny. theres a reason drag cars are required to have safety loops over the drive shaft to prevent it from falling...

Interesting... Just a thought but if the shaft fell out of the transfer case, it couldn't drop, the carrier bearing would keep it help up. It'd have to separate at the slip yoke and catch an area in the road perfectly for it to vault itself.

So... this should get interesting.
