Hi I am about to pick up a 2009 Tacoma. Here's the stat on the model I'm about to pick up...

    Double Cab
    Short bed
    4x4
    Auto
    V6
    It's the TRD off-road package

I think that's the main info. Well, it's $28,500. fee is $336. tax is $2,355.79. Total out the door is $31,191.79. I'm going to see if they can throw in some goodies for free. Please let me know ASAP if this is a good deal.

San Jose, California tax will go up to 9.25% or 9. something % after April 1, 2009. Then after May 1, 2009 State License fee will double. So I wanna pick this up before then. Thank you in advance and hopefully I will be able to officially join everyone here. BTW, I'm 28 and this will be my 1st brand new car/truck. Kinda excited about it. :)

You may price through edmunds to make sure you are getting a decent deal. I checked and it said TMV was about $28,100 - $1,000 incentive.

yeah there's a $1000 cash back, but I won't have a choice on the interest rate. if I forgo the $1000 cash back, I have the choice of 2.9%/36. 3.9%/48. 4.9%/60. This is the March Incentive Programs. Pretty much stuck with these options because I wanna avoid the tax increase in April.

That is a fair price. TMV (True Market Value) price. I also bought the identical truck in Pyrite Mica Offroad Package w/ JBL etc., but in 6-spd manual for $30,434 OTD. (without the $1,000 cash back, I opted for the low APR instead)

It must be different in Texas, but I find it hard to believe to get a truck like what you are talking about for any less than $30K OTD.

Also consider if you are doing the $1,000 cash back from Toyota or financing through Toyota for the better APR %.

Sometimes taking the cash back is actually better in the long run. I was able to get 5.5% interest and it was going to be cheaper than going with the low interest.

Go here and download this spreadsheet. You can plug all the numbers in and see what would be better

There was a thread here that has a list of invoices and for the 4x4 v6 double cab short bed with the TRD off-road package was $26, 952. How close to the invoice can we get? I'm pretty sure we would not be able to go below dealer invoice unless we have a hook up. I'm dealing directly with the fleet manager. A friend's acquaintance. So hopefully I can bring it down lower.

29,500 or walk away. Toyota is not doing so well. Down 40 % and they just had to ask their government for 2 billion to hang on. You have the upper hand my friend. Or, wait a couple of months until the 2010 come out and find a 09 left behind.

I could of gotten it in Silver for about $300 less. But, didn't want to feel like I was driving the same car (2000 4Runner in Silver). I went through an auto broker, and he had to trade up for the Pyrite Mica. To each's own.

You should be able to get at least $2k off of that price.

If you are happy with the deal go for it. Just don't buy at a price that you feel that you are getting your eyes gouged. I'm sure if I kept shopping around I probably could of saved maybe $300-$500 bucks.

But, keep in mind, you live in CALIFORNIA. 4x4 (especially TRD off-road package 4x4) or just plain 4x4 in a Manual 6-spd is few and far in between. Who wants to sit in Los Angeles traffic in a manual (me and maybe a few other manual die hards)

Originially, I wanted my same truck in Magnetic Gray 4x4 TRD Offroad 6-speed. Non-existent in So. California, my Car Broker has a locator (inventory all the dealers in So. California and No. California). He had a silver one on hold, but I didn't want it. My next option was Pyrite Mica (i now actually like this color better than the magnetic gray), which had to be located and traded for. I'm now happy :)

Keep in mind you are not going to get the same price like everyone else. But, you want to be in the same ball park. If you are getting anything at TMV or internet pricing i.e. Cars Direct pricing. You are doing ok.

I didn't have to deal with countless hours of haggling with the sales guy, or trying to get screwed into buying extra extended warranty. Got my truck delivered to my door w/ all weather mats thrown in.

My advice, don't forget to have them throw in the all weather mats.

BTW. the color of the truck is the Metallic Gray with the graphite interior. Hopefully I'll be able to utilize the 4x4 in the Bay Area. Definitely I'll be using it in the snow when I go to Tahoe.

Oh, and the 4x4 has an on off switch?

Keep it under 30K OTD! I agree Toyota sales are down.

    Where did you hear this?

The magnetic Gray is a sweet color. I would have gotten it, if it was Manual and a Short Bed option available to me.

Yes, the Tacoma is a part time 4x4 - there are three modes 2HI, 4HI, and 4LO.

This is what you get w/ 4x4 TRD Off-road package that the other 4x4 packages does not offer.

    - A-TRAC (All, I have to say this is pretty cool - still learning it, just another great tool to have while off-roading and climbing off camber hills)
    - Diff. E-Lockers (Very useful, if you Off-Road, get stuck in Mudd or any other difficult situation)

The 40 percent February U.S. decline for Toyota, the world’s largest automaker, was its biggest ever. Toyota, forecasting its first loss in 59 years, may ask Japan’s government for 200 billion yen ($2 billion) in loans for its credit unit as private financing has become too expensive, public broadcaster NHK reported yesterday, without naming its source.

If you are a member of a credit union, you might take the $1000 and then refinance it through them if you can get a comparable rate. At my CU the current rate available is 5.74% for up to 72 months. The difference between 6% & 5% is about $10 per month on a $30K loan.

I bought on '08 TRD "rugged trails" 4x4 in September for 23,500 OTD using the 2,000 cash back, mil discount, and a long fight with the dealer. Then got a 2.99% 72 month loan from USAA. It is going to work out cheaper than the 0% financing offer (istead of the 2k back).
