Welcome! I'm working my way to do more on minimalist shoes, but the darn cyst on my right foot says otherwise...

It did got a WHOLE lot smaller with the "ultrasound" treatment at the Chiropractor. In fact it worked so well, that I'm leaving early from work today, to do it again at no extra cost!

That 4 mile beach race, was that on the sand?

PS: I'm planning to race a TM before the end of the year!

These shoes look amazing. I'm definitely gonna shop them this week.

Head down to Tampa for the Mudder in December! Let's get a TW group going. :D

So, I've just started running, I hope to run a half marathon in June, up till now I was a recreational weight lifter...lifted but didn't do it to be a gorilla. I started to run about a month ago and today I went for my first 5 mile run and I averaged 9:50/mile, not sure how that compares with where I should be and I'm not sure where I want to be but I'm happy so far. That's also running with my dog so I have to slow down every once in a while and I'm running on snow and ice covered roads and sidewalks...

And I have two question, what do you guys do to protect your nips from irritation from your shirt? what do you guys recommend for a base layer?

Do not tempt me, trying to figure out the logistics of been gone for a month from the office...

I'll be O.K. Planning to hydrate myself properly since Friday.
This is the race btw: http://www.tampabayrun.com/

The 15K is on Sat morning, the 5+3K is on Sunday morning.

That is not bad at all! Are you training alone, or with a group. You have PLENTY of time specially at your current level of conditioning. Let me know if you need a training program!

About the niples? Are using an Under Armour or similar gear? Also how many layers are you wearing?

Ever tried orienteering before? Sounds like you would like it if you like trail running so much.

Ran 6.5 miles in 58:10 today! I went to the Chiropractor, some ultrasound on the cyst in the morning and it shrank to a third of the size during treatment!

The Doc, offered to give me a second one after work, which I took!

He also took a look at my soles and fixed my stride. Even though I didn't wanted to run on my heels, that is EXACTLY what I was doing!

SO today I ran on my toes, and I didn't started sweating until mile 3!

Yes, when I move back to Colorado, I plan on doing it. No such thing around here in Okieland...

No idea, NEVER listen to music while running. I like hearing my surroundings!

No, you don't my Floridian friend. In So Cal rain is such a rarity that those guys don't know how to deal with it.

It would be like finding a 3 inches of snow in your driveway in Jax...

I bet your calves were not happy with you after switching up your technique! :)

One thing when switching from a heel strike is to shorten your strides but increase the tempo. Very useful when going to minimalist shoes.

Congrats on the healing, and on the great run!

A Training program might help, I'm not in it to win the marathon just to finish with a respectable time, so nothing too crazy. As for the number of layers I wear, if it's -10C to -20C I'll have a t shirt, sweatshirt and my north face fleece on. Yesterday I just had a t shirt and a hoodie and sweat pants on. It was only -5C so quite nice for a run! I don't have any under armor stuff on, I don't own any of that high tech sports wear... Just the basics. I need some good base layer running shorts to prevent chafing though!

Calves were fine! Abs OTOH...

But yeah, running the 15K tomorrow! It will be hotter than I've run in a LONG time. Lows of 64, highs of mid 70's!

Badass! Good luck! I have another measly 5K on Sunday. One of these days I may even be able to do a 10K, lol.

oh man that was quite a meet... i just got home. 1:57am pacific time and im WIDE awake. it was a pretty awesome meet i must say. USC was running in the meet too

well anytime here were my times

Open 400: 53.35 (super bad race)
Open 200: 24.41 (still could use improvement)
    4x4 Split: 51.0

overall im happy... super pissed about only running a 53.35 in the open when all year ive been hitting a low 52. 4x4 was by far the greatest race to watch too. i ran anchor and ended up beatin him by a head lean :D
