My 2008 has been flawless with the exception of the blower motor.

Get a Chebby or Ferd and report back if they hold up better.

My 05 certified preowned was trouble for me. Had every seal on the thing and leaking head gasket replaced under the drivetrain warranty but had to pay for the leaking steering rack to be rebuilt myself because that wasn't drivetrain. I traded it in on the RC 08 and have not had issue with this one, knock on wood. Dunno if the 05 was just first year of gen 2 thing or just the hit or miss luck of them since being built here. My 82 was a tank and still ran perfect after 500k & 27 yrs of absolute "fun" and still had R12 working AC when I finally let go of it. Just the nature of today. Only way around it is to buy a model that has a VIN that starts with a J not a 5 or 6.

Sorry OP; most of us have experienced the opposite with 2nd gen tacos. Wish it were different for you. In the 90s, I had a Dodge Ram 1500. Never again. Same thing... at the dealership every 8-10K. I was so frustrated, I about drove it through the dealership lobby (BTW, I wouldn't recommend that).

That sucks man- Good luck finding another brand that is going to be more consistent...I haven't had any real issues with my truck that I can pinpoint as a manufacturing issue. And the couple problems I have had Toyota has fixed without much ado.

x2, blower motor and leaf springs are my only real gripes. Otherwise it's been a pretty decent truck (my first Toyota btw).

My 2007 has been pretty good, mainly the rear leafs were shit and replaced them. I think it has the junk clutch in it and may be replacing it sooner than should be. My AC has a small leak somewhere and needs recharged every now and then. My friends 2008 TRD OR has had some trouble, wheel bearings at 60,000 or so, and a couple front diff. actuators replaced, now his overhead console quit working.

dont get me wrong , new one just looks sexy , even when sitin still. the problem is bad part sources .and the way toyota dealers are dealing or NOT with the problems . it seems hit and miss with warr/problems being taken care or not. ill wrench this to shape , just blows monkey ball when u dump a couple of grand on a new one after the fact.wish i bought real bumpers for that money - and i did get both door hanger handles back . next fix wipper control
