Yea, the stealership is quoting me approximately $700 - 750. The first independent mechanic I called......$1250!

Going to make a few more calls but I will be very surprised if the stealership comes in lowest.

they almost look like wheelers's 5 packs w/o the overload.

With that said...has anyone ran a wheelers 5 pack w/o the overload?

With my 1.25'' shackles and I am planning on getting a 5 pack, that puts me at almost 3'' of lift when I want about 2-2.5''.

So could removing the overload help out with that? Considering the overload is like a 1/2'' thick.

I dont tow or haul anything, and my bed is empty 99% of the time.

    Too many to list.

At least you can rely on the dealership Guaranteeing their work, they have a reputation to uphold, and they will also check multiple other things while working on it to ensure it's up to par. Also, they work on Toyota's as their main business, and they receive up-to-date training throughout the year, so they are always on top of their game... :)

Has anyone done a valve job? I think I'm getting some valve chatter around 2250 RPM's and it's driving me crazy because I can't figure out what the chattering/vibration sound it.

I was going to do all of that work myself when I needed to do it but got slammed at work and didn't have time.

In our local club we are lucky enough to have a Toyota Master Technician who is one of the western regional trainers for all the Toyota Factory technicians. I picked up all the OEM parts from a local dealer who our club gets a discount from and my Master Tech friend did the work and I was done for $400 parts/labor. That was for new timing belt, water pump, all new drive belts, thermostat and front crank seal. And I guarantee the work was done better than any shop or dealership. It's good to know the right people.

Otherwise I was looking at similar cost to what you said to have a dealership or other shop do it.

I may be interested...but right now I am leaning towards whole new leafs.

Any pics of them installed on the truck?

How well did they "revamp" your stock pack?

Make sure you dont have a cracked exhaust manifold. For the longest time I thought I had some bad valve chatter on acceleration, but I finally noticed a nice crack in the manifold that was causing the ticking.

Yea Ben. That sounds like it. Adam said run a heavier oil and sea foam. So I'm going to do that today.

I'll check out my exhaust manifold.

I wanna say I still have my stock cat. So it wouldn't surprise me if it was bad.

I don't think it will...Your shocks would be pretty much fully extended way before you flex a lot.

Hmmm..I don't know what to tell you. I guess it depends on how much that 1.5" progressive pack reshapes your current leaf pack. Worth a shot? That would help with the camper shell and stuff too.

Sweet, I'll have to check that stuff out. I'm sure I could come up with a few good uses for it :D
