I think it'd be a good idea to try to get employees of the local establishments on your side. Particularly front desk employees at all the hotels. Give out coupons for a free meal to them or some such. That way, when a hotel guest asks 'Where's a good place to grab some grub?', they have a ready-made answer because you already stroked them so to speak. I'd do that as far away as Tamarack (is it even open now?) too.

Another move is to shmooze hotel owners into letting you put flyers in the actual rooms and not just the lobby display with the other 900 flyers. Just make sure that it catches the eye so the guests actually look at it. I'm sure you've already thought of this stuff, but figured I'd throw it out there anyway. Gotta get those all-important tourist $$$ in a town like McCall.

Might also consider tossing a coupon in the 'what to do this weekend' section of the Statesman for a free latte or free desert or some such. Lets the touristas from the valley know you're there.

So i have been in the restaurant biz since i was 20, 5-6 days a week for the last 16 years.
First of all congrats and good luck!
I am 6 months into my first venture myself. Holy shit is it alot of work!
I also am in a great location in a ski area where there are both steady local and tourist traffic.
So far this winter we have done great and right on pace for expansion to "brew pub" status. (6 mths - 1yr)
Were on facebook at BrewsterRiverPub, check it out and exchange advice!!
If you have any questions or need any help or advice don't hesitate to PM me and I'll try to help in any way possible.
For us our main goal was to create menu items and an atmosphere that you couldn't get anywhere else in town. Also having a theme and signature items that get people talking and bring them back is what is a winning formula.
Were a family friendly ski-bar pub that serves lunch, dinner and late night food with live music on the weekends.
Even though were very different restaurants I think we could bounce some ideas and help one another in certain situations.
Well I hope this helped and Good Luck!!!
BTW I liked "The Hot Skillet" after reading all the ideas and it wasn't there.

    .
Just a quick idea, looking at the pics of the outside of the building, looks like the place could be easy to miss, I'd get some kind of neon in one of those windows, 'open' or 'food'', 'geoff's' something that people will notice from a ways off

I'm just throwing this out there...because i'm a juvenile minded goober...like most of the rest of us...

but i think i'd avoid saying anything comes with Geoff's sausage...unless you think your clients will be into that sort of thing
