so i have a questions for the experts of lighting on here.

so i want to get into more studio style lighting. i am seeing myself doing A LOT more portrait shoots lately. i want something somewhat portable so i can take it on location. Unfortunately i dont know much, if anything about external lighting... so any help would be great!

Look into Alien Bees. They have battery so u can shoot on location. Also, learn more about speed lights. Very portable. Lots of modifiers and easier to use. Studio strobes will require radio triggers-use pocket wizards. There are others but pw work plus the newer versions are cheaper and do more.

I'm sure I could give u more. Lol.

Nice. I've got CS5, but I've never registered it.

Not that I'd know what I'm doing anyways. I need some practice. :p

x2 plus, he is a really nice guy. Very approachable.

Also, Syl Arena is also a good resource.

IDK. I hear "oh god no!" and "sure, they're the best" with regard to the SB900's. Some say they're not worth it. I'm not sure why as any time I've ever seen them in action, it's all good.

You may need to keep studio strobes as an option but for the most part, speed lights work.
