how cold is too cold to wash your truck?

I am telling you guys...plumb hot water to an outside faucet, you'll never understand how you washed your truck with cold water before.

Things clean up easier, and seems to dry off better, and you stay warm on cold days.

It was also cool at my old house it would be super cold and there would be this giant steam cloud as I was washing my truck .

 

Haha.. I've had some seriously frozen doors in the past!

I have a warm water outlet and use it when weather is cool ... but I have to be careful with hot water on cold paint.

I wash cars in 33-40 degree temps all the time. If it was below 32, I'd be miserable. Above that it's not too bad if you're dressed properly.

PS .. When I lived in Canada & Finland, I washed my vehicles in a warm manufacturing shop, but it would freeze when taken outside.

Then I started using an electric leaf blower after washing and left the vehicle in the shop to dry for maybe 3 to 4 hours. OK to go outside then, even at -25 below and colder.

When I first went to Canada, my gasoline froze (while I was driving) on a cold winter night. That surprised the chit out of me. Then I learned to use gas treatment in the coldest part of winter.

no such thing as too cold around here come winter. We have indoor car washes

 

I never give my truck to an automated wash, so anything above 40 is a good temp to wash.

 

I was washing my truck the other day it was 32 at my house so i figued i'd take a ride down to the presser washer in town where it turned to 27 degrees figured i was there only takes 20 minutes or so, well 45 seconds into it my hands were killing me and i had just go done with the presoak which was forming iceicals where the water was running off then the rise where the water was sheeting. then the bubbles which froze all and all not a good time even with heated water. had to take her home and finish with a spray bottle of water and a rag haha... shes clean tho
