Taking off fender flares....

I am wondering the best way to take off the fender flares on an 01-04 with out breaking any clips or screwing anything up? I haven't tried yet but I know that there are clips as well as the screws that go through the body that look like they might be hard to just pull out and it doesn't look like you can easily get to the back of them to push them out.

I want to take them off to do the heat gun blackening trick to them or possibly paint them, and to clean underneath.

This would be good to know, i was thinking of removing my fender flares to have them painted black, or just ordering stock flares in black and replacing them with my current ones.

Would also like to know how its done

 

when i took mine off, i broke half of the clips so only half(the good ones) went back on. they hold up just find.

i didn't check, but maybe you can take off the fender liner and see if those clips are expose. if they are, you can simply twist them off from behind the fender to save the clips.
