    Jim:
Are you responsible for the repairs while there are renters in the home?

Also is this a national program or specific to Florida?

    THX Jim

There sure seems like a lot of members ranting about the price of gas. It is what it is and there is not much any politician can do about the price.

Yesterday the price of crude was $105.01 a barrel. There are 42 gallons crude in a barrel. So the cost of crude is $2.51 a gallon. The US tax is $0.184 a gallon and MD tax is $0.235 a gal. Now not all gallons of crude are converted into gas but if they were the cost per gallon would be $2.929. Yesterday I bought gas at $3.63 a gallon. So roughly the extra 73 cents covered manafacturing, distribution, marketing and profits.

Breakdown of a barrell of crude oil.

The largest share of the 42 gallons of crude oil ends up as a finished motor gasoline. Motor gasoline accounts for 19.65 gallons (~ 47%) of the finished products produced from a barrel of crude oil. Next is distillate fuel or diesel at 10.03 gallons (~ 24%) . A distant third is jet fuel at only 4.07 gallons per barrel (~ 10%) of crude. Residual oil is typically around 1.72 gallons per barrel (~ 4%).

Other petroleum products that are created from a barrel of oil during the refining process include: still gas, petroleum coke, liquified refinery gas, asphalt and various oils for lubricants, kerosene, waxes and other miscellaneous products. These "other" hydrocarbon products account for the final 15% of the barrel or around 6.53 gallons of the 42 gallon barrel.

    End of my rant.

tom: MABY could stop futures trading on oil. OPEC doesn't set the price by the second.
OH! forgot !!!!! too many politicians have their fingers in it.
don't know if it's a fact, but they said the refineries made too much gas, and shipped it overseas, and then reduced refining capacity. can't have a glut of gas and still keep prices up.

During WWII, after we bombed the crap out of Germany's Oil refineries, the turned to making gasoline out of coal. Now, I've heard that we have more coal than they have oil, so why havn't we "refined" the process of coal to gasoline, to the point where we can be self sufficient. Somebody's getting rich over these gas/oil prices and it ain't you and I! Politicians make a lot of big boasts and promises till they get in office.

Paul you have it correct. ;)

The general consensus is the ones selling the barrels of crude are making the real money.

The gas companies are making a lot on the manufacturing of the crude and a lot on the government subsidies.

Not only do we pay at the pumps but we pay the gas companies with our tax money.

HID Headlight retrofit for the Tacoma. Started to work on it a month ago then got busy with the interior work. I felt I needed to devote 100% to the project and not try to do it in bits and pieces.
