my dad is a messican...he owns 7 John Deere tractors...that, and two machines that pick up the wheat seeds...whatever it's called...and that other huge machine that picks up cotton...hm, I should show more interest in the family business...He'll die one day and would want me to take over...thank you TW for making me mature in 2 seconds...

    Come to the south.

Same as you, and no offense at all intended (I judge the person not the race, so anyone thinking this is racist would be flat wrong) but where I grew up we had zero non-white people. There were about 400 people in my graduating class & about 2,000 people in my high school so unless I left the county or watched TV I never saw any non-whites.

I know it may sound strange to some but it sometimes still seems a little odd (not bad, just not what I'm used to) when I see a non-white riding a 4 wheeler in the mud (or at all), driving a lifted "redneck looking" truck, driving a Deere, hunting, asking (or offering) a dip because they (or I) am out or any number of things I've always perceived as a "white" activity.

i would suggest that this discussion not go any further

we just had another situation involving race...it's not something that needs to be discussed and you don't know how quickly and easily it can offend people

I feel the same way about Oxford, MS. I'm not from here and it did take a while for the locals (while still almost too friendly) to get past the yankee next door but, Oxford sure is a nice town. Like you, I've lived & worked in a few places (in the US & as an expat). Hell, I have a sister a cousin that were born, raised and still live in Germany & a cousin in the far east. Even traveling to those places and spending more than a year total living in a village in Germany I find my "perspective" pretty narrow.

    So, what area of MS?
