Looking at maybe buying the Miller Thunderbolt 225. Only used twice. Would this be a decent welder for just average jobs like pipe, some sheet metal. Possibly build a plate bumper in the future for a wheeling rig?

Can it do all those things? yes
Is it easy to do all those with it? Is it the best option? probably not.

A MIG would be a better choice. Cleaner welds, and easier as well.
Arc welders do lay strong welds though, just often not real clean looking and you have to chip slag and such. Really, an arc welder is best left for outdoor use where MIG shielding gas would get blown away, or where its necessary to weld dirty plates together.

Hi Guys, I have Mig & Tig and a plasma cutter. Both mig and tig are 220vac single phase. The 110 vac is really not enough to do a anything thick. For good info check out weldingtipsandtricks.com and ESAB.com Lincoln and Miller also have great sites with good info. Thanks, Steve

Picked up a Lincoln Sp-150 mig 220v with a tank and cart earlier for 300. Been wanting a bigger welder for some real projects for a while now. The stitch and spot weld functions ought to be pretty cool. It'll be nice to have some clean welds for a change. My weld pack 100 always had flux core in it. Let the mods begin...

I lost track thousands of dollars ago.
    :D

Yeah the casters are up about an inch so if i want to move the table I can just lower the leveling feet and roll it around. The leveling feet are 3/4" grade 8 bolts with 1/4" plate welded to to bottom for some extra footing.

Nice man glad it worked out for you.

Looks awesome! I just built a not-quite-as-fancy-as-yours water table for the plasmacam I use as well.

They've got a pretty decent selection of stuff plus today, some kind of recycled air compressor thingies.

If you need aluminum block, they have that. Sheet, tube. All sorts of new stuff plus recycled stuff.

Yeah I'll have to check it out when I'm down there. I buy my sheet at Moose metal and my tube from tube service.
