whoa, those stats on pickup sales are flawed.

How can you compare the sales of a single models (ie toyota tacoma), to a fleet of trucks (ie ford f-series)???

    due to facelift?

I too think it's economics + the catch up in inventory from super lows after the earthquake. Marketing people have short memories.

I like the new nose but if there had been an 11 model in stock at the dealer for substantially less money I would have bought it. I like the new radio system with the USB port a lot too.

Might have to do with Ford and Dodge discontinuing their compact trucks. No more Dakota or Ranger.
Colorodo/Canyon its poorly designed and I would never buy a Honda Ridgeline. only leaves you with a Nissan Frontier or a Tacome to choose.

No suprise to me that sales picked, before you factor in less unenployment and better economy

great looking truck, but there are greater sales numbers across the automotive world. New model year tend to lend better numbers (unless it was a bombed design) as it is new also.

This X1000. You can't compare a collective group to a single object. Kind of like when dumbass political fucks compare Europe to the US.

Tacoma sales had been flat for the last three years, yet sees a 30% jump in 2012?
    2009 111,824
    2010 106,198
    2011 110,705

Tundra sales YTD are down 10%.

Still think the improving economy and/or post-earthquake effects had more impact on Tacoma sales?

I think it's a little of everything. Economy, facelift (people like change in automobiles, especially cosmetic ones), the fact Ford/Dodge are dropping out of the small/mid size line (might have an effect cause people realize there wont be any updates to upgrade older versions of the vehicles and harder to find parts for discontinued vehicles).

For some reason that is the standard in the 'truck' world. Ford trucks are all rolled into one, called the F-Series. It's why they get to say all that marketing bullshit about the best selling truck in history, etc. It's pretty retarded... If all automakers did that, then Toyota would get to roll the tundra and Taco into one. Hell, if they did that they could roll all 5 or 6 of their SUV's into one and suddenly get to brag about their SUV selling 5 times better than everything else on the market...

Reality would seem to suggest that attributing the jump to the 'facelift' is a stretch. I actually would go so far as to say that the black portion of the new grill looks pretty cheesy, though i do like the updated interior.

I suspect it has more to do with what others who have actually put a little thought into all factors have suggested, no more Dodge or Ford offering, somewhat improved ecomony, etc.
