I guess I need to start saying nice things about our crappy American built trucks so we can all feel better about them. Toyotas were so much better when they were 100% import.

everybody should just quit posting, this kid is trolling now.

 

We have 4 4x2 regular cabs at work. The 04's manual transmission has a whine that started around 100K. At 150K it's louder, but still works fine and the truck is all original with very little preventative maintenance. It's a little on the slow side, but tolerable. The 05 now has 115K on it. All it's needed is rear wheel bearings (overloaded constantly). It is slow as hell with the auto transmission. The two identical 09s have 40K and 60K on them. The one that I drive does have a slight whine to the rear end at very light throttle around 45-50MPH. I've never driven the other 09, so I can't comment. I've never noticed anything odd from the passenger seat. Both the 09s have very good power for what they are. They are both 5speed manual.

My 06 with the V6 and 6speed does not seem to be as bullet proof as the 4cyls. It's starting to develop the common timing cover oil leak, and I've already had the common throw out bearing issue. But I wouldn't trade it for a Chevy. I've driven both, and I've driven Fords and Dodges too. I think they all make a good product, but they all have their issues as well.

Sounds like you need to find another dealer to fix your rear axle. I hope you can figure that out. I think your truck is one of the most reliable models that's sold in this country.
