I sanded my cut with a grinder...it doesn't take much to smooth it out or take the cut above the axle. Be sure to use some spray paint after you sand to avoid rusting. My tire is kind of close to my tail pipe, but ive driven over 700 miles and no explosion yet so I guess it's ok lol.

So do you think your into it under 4 grand? Does it feel more like a V8 and what kind of gas milage did you lose or did you? For me it would be hard to keep my foot out of it. I'm considering gears but it's four a cuple thousand more I could get a super charger and not need gears. Hmmm mm decisions decisions.

I have had a number of members ask me about my grill emblem.
Here is a write up I sent MetalMiller after I was done with it. He supplied the raw emblem rough cut from 1/4" steel, I did the rest.

The emblem is two parts, a custom grill emblem from MetalMiller and a OEM badge from Toyota.

The Texas Edition badge is from Fred Haas Toyota in Houston, I think I paid $20 or $25 bucks for it; part number 00012-T0540-02. It is a door badge for a Texas Edition Tacoma.
I ordered the Texas State grill emblem from MetalMiller, he is a member here on the forum. It was cut from 1/4" steel and was sent un-finished. My original plan was to color match the grill emblem to my truck and have a pinstriper paint or airbrush the Texas flag. When I received the emblem from MM I noticed that the state cut out on the emblem was the exact same size as the door badge I had in my desk drawer. It was then I decided to change directions with the emblem, and am I glad I did.
The first thing I did was have the Texas State shape milled down the thickness of the badge I planned on using, that way when the badge was attached it would sit flush inside the emblem and look factory. Once I received the emblem back I used a sharpening stone to hone away all of the milling marks. Other then a dremel I don't have any real power tools so everything was done by hand.
Using two sanding blocks one with 150 grit and the other with 400 grit and with the aid of a sharpening stone, I spent a couple of days polishing and shaping the emblem for chrome plating. I used the flatness of the sharpening stone to keep the top of the emblem flat, I would sand for awhile and then take the hone to the top. I did not want to take a chance having the chrome shop polishing to much of the shape away so I wanted it as ready for the tank as I could get it. I got it to about 90% done and tossed it into my barrel tumbler, I let it tumble in crushed walnut shells for a day and then polished it with a sanding block and 1200 grit paper.
It looked like chrome when I was done, at this point it was about 98% finished. Took it to a local plating shop, he said a light buff and plating, $35 bucks. It was a lot of work but I did it a little here and a little there, spent about a week or so, about 14 hours total. Well worth every second I spent on it.
To hide the Toyota shape on the grill, I used a piece 1/32" thick carbon fiber shaped to the oval and put it between the emblem and the grill. I also used a piece of 1/16" thick carbon fiber to attach it to the grill between the two mounting screws, gives it a nice flat firm support.
