Which Rigid is that? You likey? I have a General contractor saw that I bought used a few years back and have still not set it up. It is too big for my very small garage (motor sticks out the back, and fence rails stick out a mile), and I was eyeballing a portable Rigid like this at Home Depot. Is it 110v only, or can you wire it for 220? And it looks like it has a pseudo riving knife? Hmmm.

 

I highly doubt that any portable/jobsite table saw is capable of being 220V.

 

That's what I am thinking, too, but just asking. Things have come a long way recently...but it would make it a lot heavier.

Edit: yeah, I think it's this one, pulling 15A for 10 inch, must only be 110.

220V would be preferable, but finding a 220V receptacle to plug in to would be unlikely, and I don't think many people would bother rewiring the saw when a 220V receptacle is available.

I'm fantasizing about the most powerful and space-efficent saw I can find. I can't justify a cabinet saw for my use.

Bloody hell! Maybe they will be dropping the price in the US, soon, too.

 

Got the garage back in working order and the new tool cabinet set up... Will be looking at making that here after lunch.

 

You guys ever just hook your vacuum up to the dust collection tube on the saw?

Plug your saw into the one outlet, vacuum into the other and when you turn on the saw the vacuum automatically comes on and collects majority of the dust.

You need a good size vacuum though

I just switch the vac on and off by hand... 40$ cheaper

 

I made a manual version of that for our mitre saws for aboot $10. basically just a switched receptacle that you plug the saw and vac into, that way you can't cut unless the vac is on.

 

Saves time though onsite

 

My vac is right behind my saw... Fast and my time is not as valuable

 

I haz no dust tube either. One of the bennies of not buying a better saw.
