Ok guys heres the deal, very likely going to pick up and LS1 very soon 325 HP at the crank. The engine is turn key and is about 2 grand less than the URD stage I supercharger which is pretty damn close to the same HP. Besides bellhouse adapter, mounts, radiator and ECU what else can I expect to have to do that are going to be big money items for an engine swap.

I can also sell my engine when it is removed and get some of the money towards the install and price of engine and with the supercharger I will just be out 5500.

Also MPG will more than likely increase, not that i really care about it more worried about the HP. Also the LS1 can handle 450HP easy without any internal work required.

What are your ideas or suggestions? is this a good idea, stupid idea or would I be doing more work for the same thing?

LS1 if you can afford it.

What kind of trans are you going with and do you have the fabrication ability to fit it in and build new mounts?
You are aware that if it holds that much power, it will also cause other problems, like blowing your gears, excessive axle wrap, etc.

What is it going in? If its your truck are you going to make it non-op green sticker because unless the motor is newer then the truck or ECU then it won't pass smog.

the LS1 will be about 71 pounds heavier than a 1GR FE. may affect your front suspension a bit.

V8 everytime. Supercharger very cool dont get me wrong. To me allot of extra parts when you can get the hp from a raw V8

I think I can deal with the extra weight up front with shock valving, I have a plate bumper and winch up front which will all be gone so itll prob be pretty close to the same.

Well the grand plan before the V8 came into play was four link the rear end ford 9" axle and a T-56 trans. My fab skills are not anything I may have to take it somewhere to get mounts fabbed. might even see if i can push the engine back at all. I have a good friend of mine that has done tons of V8 swaps willing to help me out with the project for some beer. I am a mechanic just havent taken on an engine swap yet.

I'd be happy with 450-500 out of it. with some research looks like people are getting easy with a cam, full exhaust over 400.

LS1!! Hp may be the same but youll most likely have more over a much broader rpm range plus the torque of it will be way more fun. You cant go wrong with an LS.
