Has this truck ever been available?

It is my understanding that you've always had to get a manual transmission to get the doublecab with a shortbox.

There is a dealer in my area advertising a Doublecab, shortbox, automatic. I'm going to call them tomorrow, but here's a couple pics

    I wish!

We just need to trade places. Over in Southern California I'm having a hard time finding one in manual.

All of the shortbox doublecabs i've peered in around here are manual tranny. If you go on toyota's website and build an 09, you can only get the auto with the long bed and the manual with the short bed only.

i think i figured it out. I think for Canada, it was

    Doublecab shortbox - Manual only
    Doublecab longbox - Auto only

This truck is being sold by a canadian dealer, but a US truck.

They didnt have any manuals when I got mine in Northern California, I guess they are hard to come by here. Thats probably just what they told me to sell me what they had. At the time I wanted an automatic because I was sick of the manual in my s-10. Now that I have had it for a while I really wish I had a manual. I drove this girls manual and I really missed my old manual.

I have never owned an automatic and I don't plan on owning an automatic any time soon.

This shortage of manual DC SB's was probably because of Canadian stock.

The dealerships just need to make some swaps in inventory.

Then one lucky Canadian dealership will make a sale from you.
And one lucky SoCal dealership will make a sale from me.

After driving my 5 spd 96 Tacoma for 327,000 miles I was more than ready for an automatic.

Ya, both the trucks I owned before this were manual, I was ready for an auto, but where I work I have to go over two summits so its a lot of downhill and I really miss the manual for that type of driving.
