2012 Illuminated 4x4 selector switch

Here is an illuminated switch in a 2012 Tacoma
Not bad fit huh.

Hell yes it's a picture of a switch, it's a picture of a switch in a 2012 tho.
It is a 4 Runner switch that came from here.

That is where I got the idea for the switch.

The wire to splice behind the Temp Control Panel is the one on the right side of the connector on bottom viewing it as connected.
Picrure it is the one on top right solid Green wire.
The other light wire fron 4x4 switch wire is grounded to the radio mounting bolt.
The top left wire as viewed in picture is a white/grn tracer it is a ground but I didn't bother splicing it as the bolt grouind was available easier.

I will post a picture of it illuminated later this PM as it isn't dark yet.
The switch is just snap in as it fits perfectly other than the fact it protudes out a bit from the panel, color matches perfectly.It's good enough for me.

It is now after dark so here is the picture.
The switch came with a amber cover over the bulb which wouldn't go with the white on the 2012 so I removerd the cover and found the color was still a bit too yellow for me. So I started to expermit with LED bulbs.
This is the first one I tried and dammit when I held it up the hole in the dash panel I misjudged how far in I was and I heard the dreaded CLICK and knew I went too damn far in.
I am not about to remove the dash panel again so it is what it is for now.
Comments are welcome and I will help in any way that I can if anyone else does this mod.
As you notice the 4Hi is a tad brighter, that is cause the bulb is directly behind it, I had another bulb that might diffuse better but due to my oops it didn't get tried.

I will post 2012 switch removal tommorrow in a new thread.

It ain't perfect but I done got a 2012 that has a lighted 4x4 selector switch and I'm happy.

Yes it is in the original 4Runner bulb holder.
It is the flat style LED like you use in your kit.
Tried to fit your kit into this switch but no go, course I'm not wanting to grind on the circut board either

WAIT a minute! Toyota didn't put an illuminated 4x4 switch in the new trucks!? That's sad. I didn't know that until now.

 

that's next years model big selling point as advertised "the all new" j/k

 

Well, the L4 light on mine went out in less than a year. Don't know if it's a problem with the LED or the board.

 

Well send that sucker back to me and i'll fix it fir free.
