Basically I have been looking for the following through craigslist and TW with no luck so far. So I will just throw it out there in case anyone would like to wheel and deal.

    • Stock alloys with upgraded AT or MT tires - 16 or 17 inch rims is fine as long as they fit stock height set up
    • Black step bars or nfabs
    • grillcraft grill

Willing to buy or trade items...

    No Toyota Filters :p:p:p:p:p (I know, I know...GMC site)

But for sure that looks like a well done test...no time/too lazy to read through everything...

What was the general consensus on what filters are best/worst?

All I know I will never run Frams again from what I discovered after cutting a few open after running them for a mere 3000 miles.

thanks man. Those look pretty much right.

Good to see mobil 1 and K&N filter did well...I have used those exclusively for the last 5 changes.

And I see that the other frams and the STP fiters did pretty bad.

One thing that test (or at least I didn't see it) didn't address was the construciton of the filter. Fram filters are overall poorly made, and of bad materials. Because a filter may fitler well in a test...but its construction will add to its reliability.

And STP filters done even have a bypass valve :eek::eek: <<AVOID!! lol

I cut open 3 frams after 3000 miles. All three were had badly deformed filter media. The worst was an xtra guard which had a big hole blown in the filter media, allowing the oil to pass through completely unfiltered. I have cut apart K&N, mobile 1, and Purolator filters that looked great after 5k. And They have metal endcaps and good bypasses vs. the cardboard of the frams.

But from here on out I am going to run yota filters just cuz

Thats no excuse. Especially since the old school thought of changing at 3k is obsolete. Dino oil can be left to 5k with no ill effects.

NO filter should fail at 3k miles. Also, I cut it open at 3k...so who knows how long it was blown open.

I wouldn't use a Fram filter on my lawn mower...and any filter that doesn't have a bypass valve should be avoided. Sure, how often does a filter fail to where the bypass needs to trip?? But why risk your motor by cheaping out on a shitty filter.

I have used a NAPA gold filter before. They are good filters.

I just avoid Frams and STP's.

Whats $10 for a good filter when its your motor you are protecting, ya know??

Thanks for bursting my bubble. I would read this after buying two stp oil filters. I went to rock auto and ordered the denso ones.
