    Hey all,

I'm getting kinda of tired of my CAI. I have an AFE Pro Dry S CAI, same style as the first TRD CAI for the 2nd gen, and I'm not sure if I should keep it or sell the CAI.

    Pro's:
-According to my butt dyno, better top end
-Cool sound when I put my foot down
-Looks cool when I open the hood
    -Washable air filter

    Con's:
-Annoying drone when powering up a hill, or when the RPMS are above 2800
-Not CARB legal (Issue when I need to smog in 2014)
-According to my butt dyno, Loss of low end torque

I got the 1st gen TRD CAI and its not as annoying as it is now with the TRD catback. I got the TRD CAI first and couple months later I got the catback. More drone now going up hills.

    The butt dyno allways lies.
Go with the drop in AFE and give it to a non Cali smog state person that will enjoy the sound.

I took my trd one off. Stock with drop in filter seemed like it had more power. I miss the growl tho.

Was in the same boat as you after getting the aFe, except the CARB thing wasn't an issue for me. I ended up selling and going back to stock+aFe drop-in. In the end the off-idle noise was just too annoying for me. Have considered trying the URD (only other CAI that I'd consider), but haven't wanted to cut wires and trim metal...
