when i'm sliding in the snow, it does make alot of noise and i can feel it in the pedal, but it's not any noise level that i haven't had in previous vehicles

Yeah... ABS.... Annoying as hell ain't it?

I find it easier to move my heel back a little, use my toes on the pad, and use less pressure on the pedal. No slamming on the brakes in this truck. I start slowing down waaaaay early in snow because of that. Truck still slides with the ABS on and seems to take longer to stop.

After the first week I realized I was holding my foot like in my car, and the toes of my boots were pressing on the arm of the pedal. That seems to push the pedal harder than you want. I can get the ABS to kick in every time if I forget to push lower on the pedal. If that makes sense. It's like the boot gets wedged too far up and the same foot-pressure moves the pedal more so the brakes try to lock up, then ABS kicks in.

i've seen so many complaints about the pedal positioning lately but i've never had a problem with mine, and i'm wearing size 11 steel-toe boots all day

I shouldn't have this problem anymore! Did the ABS shut off mod! Now stopping those annoying ABS issues is just a switch away!

We got 10 inches of snow between yesterday and today here in Southern Maryland.
I had to hit the brakes hard this morning and my 05 dbl cab made the same wierd noise.
Glad to see someone else experienced it as well.

If the sound is metallic there is a problem. If it's just the chigga chigga of the ABS then it's normal. If you're worried get it looked at.

How thick was the dust on this thread?;) An old thread indeed, but a sure sign that the search function was used. Props for that.:)

most abs systems I've encountered make somewhat of a grinding noise, and I heard them a lot driving cars in northern Illinois winters growing up. I have heard the grinding noise not only in my tacoma, but also in the Fords, GMs, and one BMW that was in my household.
I also noticed a high pitch whirring sound when mine activated on my 06.
Since others have mentioned the same thing I can only assume these are normal sounds from the ABS on this truck.
