homeowners shouldn't be allowed to wire their own homes, you wouldn't believe some of the shit I've seen.

 

Need my garage rewired... Air compressor pops the fuse if anything else is on

The only thing I don't do is electrical. I am an Acft electrician and STILL hate house electricity. Plus, the new codes are so stringent I don't want to screw with it. I have a buddy who owns his company... Just want him to re-do my bathroom to garage wiring.

All of the houses on our block were done fast and cheap in 79/80. A lot of little things I found when tearing up the old carpet to put in the wood floors. As well as all of the cabinets in the kitchen. I did have 2 contractor buddies come home and say all the stuff I did looks great! Yay me!

 

I told my father in law to not bother trying to sell their house.... Scary the shit he has done in the basement, wires everywhere, junction boxes everywhere.

They definitely need to make electrical work by the home owner illegal

Sadly your house is likely in much better shape then my ten year old union built home . Never again will I buy a house that was union built

Technically they aren't allowed to... or at least it needs to be inspected if done legally.

It would be fine if you wrapped it all in electrical tape.

 

That looks like one of my planes during a major inspection (plus wire tags of course)...

 

Dunno if they applies across Canada but Ive heard that a home owner is legally held responsible for any electrical work they have done, even after they have sold the house

here homeowners can pull their own permits for electrical, it does need to be inspected but most inspectors spend 10 minutes inspecting a house.
