a guy had a fat tire on the front yesterday when i went riding. i think it slowed him down a little cause his friend was a few minutes ahead of him but i would think it would be good for moderate trails. i think they are usually for mud sand and snow atleast thats what i have seen them used for mostly

I think it would be a pain in the ass to move those big ass tires

I though fat tire bikes were for mainly loose sand and snow, where you would want that big footprint to be stable

Yeah, I mean I probably wouldn't use it for uphill climbing alone, but I wouldn't hesitate to take one out on a trail just because I had to climb a hill. It would be really fun on the sand dunes or in mud

I rode a pugsley the other day and it was fun. Its almost like a damn cartoon bike. I wouldn't mind taking one out for a day on the trails though. The one I was on was going for $1600.

How did it ride on the pavement? Seems like it would be a hell of a lot of fun on the trails, it'd just romp shit

The tires can go all the way down to 5 psi. It rode like a regular bike on the street. It is surprisingly not that heavy. Just seeing the size of the tires (3.7" width on the Pugsly) made me smile. Now a 4.7 would be crazy cool.

No you can't. The forks are too narrow if you can believe that.

i think i messed something up on either my rear derailluer or my cassette. My bike will randomly change gears at times now. If I am in 5th gear it will switch to 6th by itself after a few pedels... pretty annoying.

unrelated to that, I wrecked and went over my handlebars last night...haha. I was on a faster part of the trail and there was small incline, I got some more speed to go up it and then as soon as I got up the hump it went back down and took a sharp turn to the right. I tried braking with the rear brakes but they were not slowing me down fast enough, I tapped the front brakes and took a spill rather than crashing into the woods...

also at the beggining of the trail there is a little ditch that you have to cross. it never has water in it. well as I was riding up to it yesterday they had opend up the drain and water was blasting out of it. luckily there were some railroad ties laying around so I made a bridge to cross

    Ouch, sounds classic.
Kevin, your shifting may just be from a little cable stretch. If you haven't tried it already just turn your barrel adjuster on your shifter out (counter clock) an increment or two and see if that cures the ghost shifting.

thanks guys, Ill check it out tonight. There is a spot on the chain that makes a weird noise when it gets to one of the little sprockets on the rear der. I looked the chain over when I was on the trail and couldnt see and problems. Ill give the bike a good cleaning and inspect everything tonight.

Maybe just a cable adjustment to solve the shifting problem. If you put the bike on a stand and rotate the pedals, does it sound like it's trying to shift? If so, it's just a bit of adjustment required.
