for mounting the spacer to the rim. Allpro sells them for pretty cheap. You should definitely get them for at least the front wheels. The studs up front are short enough as it is.

So I'm gonna piggy back on this thread. Yesterday when I was adjusting my e-brake I noticed that my rear springs are totally frowning.

30,000 miles ago I replaced the front and rear shocks with the factory bilsteins. I do not know what bilsteins I have, all I know are the part numbers:

    Front: 48541-A9010 and 48541-A9020
    Rear: B46-2284

So my question is what rear springs should I get? I am not looking for any sort of lift (other than what I will gain from the springs not frowning). And I don't want to have to take a second mortgage out. My Tacoma is mostly a daily driver with moderate wheeling in the summer for camping.

    Thanks in advance

My leaf springs are getting to the point of going the way of Old Yeller, personally I am going to go with a set of Deaver OEM replacements. Yes they are pricey, but I think the benefits of better handling, load capability, and raising the truck up to where it should be are worth it. And I honestly believe these will be the last leafs I will buy for this truck before it dies 15 years from now. I do not do any offroading, except for some very very very mild dirt road driving once a month or so. Mostly use my truck to tow a motorcycle trailer or load stuff in the bed for other hobbies. Also, Deaver is located 8 miles from my house :)

    Madjik Man,

"4WD", a member here, has been getting excellent results in refurbishing leaf springs at a very low cost by using salvage(yes, junk yard) spring packs from Ford and Chevrolet leaf springs. The steel in them is much better quality than found in Tacoma spring packs. Search some of his posts and read for yourself. If you are willing and able to do the work, you will have less than $50 in rebuilding your rear springs.

The Toyota Bilsteins are not true Bilsteins, rather they are built to Toyota specs by Bilstein.

Thanks for the info. I'll look into that.

    Thanks man, very helpful.

Great news about the Bilsteins not really being Bilsteins

Wish I found TW over 30,000 miles ago

    re: Deaver OEM replacements...

...Holy Shitballs! Is that price there for one spring or is that for a pair?

    http://www.deaverspring.com/products/leafstoy.html

edit: nvm... looks like $450 is the price for both driver and rear springs (if I'm reading the "part#" column correctly)

I have allpro spacers and the allpro extended lugs.

The lugs that come with the spacers are just standard length. But dud to how the spacers mount, if you use standard lugs, you actually don't get to use very much of the stud. With the extended lugs, they grab more of the stud making it it much more safe.

    ET vs standard

Your 97 can't run Dakars or Allpro Expo's without you having to cut and reweld your hangars and shackles. Wheeler's makes 5 packs for our trucks with a shorter length.

    You're right about that!

It'd suck to pay 300 bucks for springs you don't know you can't use!

OP Keep us updated after you get your lift, I'd like to see before I get mine.

Right now I'm going to get 5100's and Wheeler's 5 leaf packs.
