I have to disagree with that range.. for EIC competition matches we shoot 400m open sights and get a pretty damn decent group. Even better with the ACOG. Thats with a 20'' barrel and 55gr rounds. It just takes a lot of trigger time...

Oh absolutely... but there's a difference between an effective hit on a man-sized target and attempting to maintain a 3" group.

If SHTF and I were forced to bug out to the hills, I would not hesitate to grab nothing but my 14.5 and Glock 26 on the way out the door.

But competition you aren't likely shooting 55gr out of a 1:7 14.5 barrel... You're likely running a Wylde chamber stainless 1:8 with a heavier round ;)

My latest build is an iron-sighted carbine. I'm determined to keep optics or lights off it. I want to get really good at using the irons. I'm planning on a carbine course with it next month as long as the dude is smart enough to schedule it before turkey season. It still has a Geissele trigger on it though. They make things a lot easier.

OME 3" lift, ARB bumper,DTRL, CB radio in console, 5lb fire extinguisher in bed. SockMonkey decals, Allpro rear bumper, UWS 42" bed box, Wet Okoles all around, snorkel, Pioneer Av3200, ..yadda yadda yadda
And so it begins again. I just ordered a collapsable buttstock for my next are, this time in .22 cal. after crusing the threads over at rimfire central, and after the wife "appropriated" my 10/22 tacticool rifle, (I got my M4 back so win-win I guess) I figured I'd better start another one. It'll eventuall get an SBR barrel and a micro red dot. Nothing fancy, but good enough to train with and have som fun.

It seems Troy has changed the way the rail attaches. Im hoping it will still fit on my TRX barrel nut.

Just bought a S&W M&P this weekend. I see some manufactures make iron sights that mount to my gas block but my gas block doesnt look like it has enough surface to mount them on it. Suggestions please.

    I am new to AR's

Just remember that a railed gas block has to be the same height as the receiver rails to take most front sights. That one looks pretty tall, but id still take a level to it. If it's level with the receiver, that. Daniel Defense sight is a great option. If it's lower than the receiver rail, you need a sight that specifies it's for use with a railed gas block.

Toytec ultimate lift kit, light racing UCAs, ARB bumper and full skid plates underneath. Looking into redoing the suspension and maybe repainting the ol' Taco.
Just finished putting together my first AR. It is a PSA complete rifle kit and an Olympic lower. I put a holographic sight on it. Haven't shot it yet, but planning on this weekend.

BCM GF Charging handles? They are in all of my ARs. They work and are a solid piece. I would not have an AR without one.

Yes it is level with the receiver rails.....I will look into the Daniel Defense sights as well

I just wasnt sure what would fit because the gas block rail isnt that long at all (maybe an inch)
