Strait axle conversion

Has anyone tried this on a 2nd gen yet? Could I use this to change my pre-runner to a 4x4 with out having to buy a new taco?

*Sorry if this is already out there buy i couldnt find any info on 2nd gen strait axles anywhere*

LOL at your leveling kit. your not serious are you? that shit might as well be thrown away if you are thinking of a SA conversion

 

Your info says you have a 2011. Assuming that is correct, it's not cost effective to do a solid axle swap on such a new vehicle unless you want it to be a dedicated trail rig. It's expensive, causes your vehicle to have a lot of down time and will void any powertrain warranty you have left. Your leveling kit will be garbage because you'll be fabricating a brand new front end suspension, reinforcing the frame and stuffing your new axle under the front end. Trade it in and get a 4x4, it'll be a lot cheaper in the end.

 

Yea i want to lift it higher. The dealer put on the leveling kit for me and i want a 6in kit.

Would this be the best way to change my truck to 4x4. and my truck has lost to much value to sell and then buy a 2nd gen 4x4 with low miles. i want my truck to be able to go where ever i want with out limitation excpesialy the limitation i get with the pre runner

I don't think you're hearing us well enough... it's not worth it. You'll have well over $10,000 into your prerunner by the time you're done. It's cheaper to trade it in. Plus, you're the one who made the other thread about the hood scoop and driving quick, leading me to believe this is your daily driver. You don't want an overly modified SAS'd vehicle as your daily driver. The cheapest way to put 4wd on a prerunner would be to find a wrecked 4wd and swap over the parts you need. With the newer vehicles, you'll have to mess with electronics also. It's not an easy task and if you can't do the work yourself, you'll spend an assload of money doing it.

no i was wondering about it shaking and idc about the sound i was just driving on a family friends closed track.

Not if you drive around at 95mph. If you dont drive at 95 all the time then your hood scoop shouldnt bother you. You really need to do some more research. How does SAS gain power?

good lord this is a disaster...OP, there is a reason people that already have modded to hell 4x4s do SAS...so no, SAS is not the best way to get 4x4 in your truck, at all. the absolute best way is to just tell your parents you need a 4x4 to mob through the dez and do drag launches and have them sell your prerunner and buy a 4x4. I dont think you realize what is involved in SAS and doing it to your truck would be the biggest waste of money ever, not to mention you would not have the first clue how to use it even if you could pay for it.
