Hood Scoop issue

I have a TRD Sport hood and i love it. I just makes me a little nerviness when i break 95+mph cause the hood scoop inst real and has a plastic insert stopping the air from going in to the engine bay. ( i believe this is the right turn, sorry I am trying to learn more about cars I am only 17)

I was thinking about taking out the plastic insert so i popped it out. Then i noticed that it holds the mesh insert in place. I really think that adds to the look of the truck and don't want to loose it.

I was wondering if i can just cut of the back and have it be a semi functioning hood scoop and not build up some much pressure and start shaking the hood violently.

I couldn't find any discussion about this when i searched cause there are so many hood scoop discussions and people talking about their TRD sport.

Has anyone ever made/thought about doing this.

Would this create a whistling noise? any other downsides? why Toyota even puts it there waiting money on the plastic?

Any thought an opinion would be appreciated. I can upload a picture of what i am talking about if requested

i think you should just not go 95mph in a truck

 

The hood scoop can not be made functional as an air intake. It is in a negative pressure zone on the hood so air won't be forced into the scoop.

Here's a lesson from us older folks. Don't go 95 mph. I wouldn't even recommend going 95 mph with a Tacoma on the autobahn.

the autobahn has speed limits for the most part, aside from popular belief that it doesn't. max speed is 130kph, which is roughly 81 mph. there are a few sections with no speed limits at all, but once again, there's a downside... insurance companies don't cover anything if suspected or found that you were travelling over 130kph. there are also speed cameras EVERYWHERE. there's also nothing special about the road. they're just like any other highway, but quite possibly with fewer shoulders.

 

Track my ass. He'd have an X-runner if that was his interest.

Children who decide to drive too quickly cause other people to die. I know that you have access to a track, equipped with fire/safety personnel, etc. and that the only idiot to die, due to driving a pickup truck at 95+ mph will be you.
My dad almost died about 10 years ago due to a 19 year old piece of shit with a heavy foot. The kid was driving a mid-80's Mustang and t-boned my dad at 80 mph in a 35 mph zone. The collision ripped my dad's F350 almost in half. Without the steady paycheck, my dad's financial wellbeing was ruined. He lost his house, and a couple of contracts. All because some little boy like you wanted to drive fast. That boy ended up shattering his own skeleton to a pulp. I hope that he never drives again, unless its an electric wheelchair.

I know that this isn't a nice post, and that I should be more tender and warm hearted, and offer advice, and quote the bible or something.... I don't care. This shit pisses me off. I drive 1200 miles a week, and I see these 'I just saw Fast and the Furious and I can do it too' pricks all of the time.
