WOW... this thread will teach the OP to ask a question in here! Poor guy, 3 posts into TW and he gets subjected to this...

Opinions are like a$$holes, everyone has one... but when you start waving them in everyone's face they all look the same. Do the guy a favor and take the bed discussion to a more appropriate place!

*stepping down off my soap box now...

So over 5 years later, anybody seeing their bed deteriorate?

Not the frame mind you, we know that the metal frame has issues.

My bed is fine. No issues here. I read this whole thing and it's a load of horseshit these clowns are talking about how composite is crap. All my previous trucks have had steel beds and this one is tits. I can drop an engine block in it and it won't damage it. I do that with my 1st gen and it would put a hole through it. Steel is strong I know but it's also heavy. That's the reason most pickup trucks have a 1/16th thick steel bed. The tailgate sucks but I can fix that with some plate steel. No worries. I have hauled heavy loads in the bed. Never snapped a strap. Love the tie down points and the adjustable rails. And the power outlet in the bed is a nice touch.

Haha yeah wow what a thread Resurrection. Since then, I've put larger loads of brick and sand in the bed, where I'm riding axle on bump stop (with heavy duty springs in the back) and the bed was 100% fine.

Have yet to see any '05s complaining about cracked beds or anything, and that's 12 years now. Let's see how those 12 year old work truck beds look like now ;)

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
I avoid the hell out of taking off my BedRug because I know, unequivocally, I have many stress cracks and fractures. I see evidence of them from underneath, and I saw them from above the last time I had the rug off (a little less than two years ago). I can feel the sides give when I step in, I can see a slight crown effect with my naked eye.

I never haul quads, dirt bikes, or the like. I do construction and remodeling for a living, and when I'm not doing that I'm taking the family out for multi-day deep backcountry off-road adventures. My bed may see much more regular use than others, but for a pickup truck, I consider my use normal and expected.

My last truck -- 1994 base model Mitsubishi, sold in 2012 when I bought my Taco -- had a metal bed and underwent the exact same use. The bed had its dents, scrapes, scuffs, and mild surface rust. But it took everything I threw at it (often literally) and never gave me the kind of problems I'm experiencing with this milk jug bed.

Metal > plastic any damn day of the week.

I damaged my bed throwing some large sandstone rocks in. Looked like fiberglass in the damaged spot. Never messed with it though and it’s ok to this day. Moral of the story is to gently place rocks bricks etc in this pos Tupperware bed.

So, interesting digression on how to remove a truck bed- resurrection again. Came across this, as I just bought a 2014 salvage Tacoma with bed damage and wanted to see how to remove the bed and put a flatbed on it. Let me know if anyone has any good points for completing removal of the bed on a Gen 2.

Spray the main bed bolts with solvent for few days prior. Use a decent impact gun. Expect to replace them. It is quite simple though.

I can confirm the composite bed will NOT stop bullets!!! :infantry::infantry::infantry:Other than that it’s pretty damn strong.
