(note: Rear harsh ride TSB story)
SOOoooOoo, after waiting months to take care of this issue, I had an appt. set today at
10am for the dealership "to check things out" on my rear-end.

Unfortunately, I got tied up and could not take it in at 10,
so the wifey took it!:D After hearing what happened,
I am so glad that I wasnt there!
The outcome may have been a bit different...LOL

I will let her chime in and tell you the story...all I will say is......
those boys in the service dept learned a few things today from a lady.;)
They seemed genuinally annoyed that she had the printed TSB in hand!

    To be continued.....:goingcrazy:

soooooo I am sure he is waiting for me to chime in and tell you the story....

Well the first guy I talked to asked me why I was there and I explained to him that I was having a few problems with carrying weight in the bed of my truck and that it would bottom out with weight that should be fine for my size truck. So he asked what kind of weight was I putting back there and I told him the last thing that we carried was a washer and dryer set and that it bottomed out twice and that the back end even swayed a little bit the second time it happened.

He raised an eyebrow at me and said that he was not aware of any issues with the suspension or any recalls on the '08 tacoma and I said not a recall but there was a TSB on it. He asked me if I was sure, so I pulled it out. He looked it over with a fine tooth comb, ofcourse I already had Toyota's number scribbled across the top so that he could see that I did my homework.

He then turned me over to the service manager.

The service manager then asked me where I had gotten that paperwork from, I told him the internet. He looked at me kind of funny so I decided to turn the tables on him, I said, "why, is it a secret that there's a problems with the tacoma's rear suspension?" Ofcourse I said it loud enough that the 7 other people in the seating area could hear me. He looked up right away and said no ma'am no ma'am there no problems. So I said ok, then why the 100 questions? He said that it is just rare that someone would walk in with a copy of a TSB and not that they were a secret but that they were not public record that he knew of.

So I said "regardless of where I got it from, I am having an issue with my vehicle, the issue I am having has a TSB on it. That means it is a real issue that Toyota is already fully aware of. Do I need to call Toyota back to set up the appointment thru them or was Toyota correct that I just needed to bring it in to my local dealership?" (Mind you, I had not talked to Toyota about shit, I was just blowing smoke) so he says please have a seat and I will be right back.

He came back and told me all the parts where ordered and that he would call me to tell me when to drop it off. I said thank you and I'll look forward to your call.

That was the beginning of our TSB experience.

I don't understand why it's like pulling teeth to get them to do this. I had the same response when I brought mine in. I called Toyota and the dealer called me back a few days later and said the parts were in. By the way, you're going to love the ride after they fix it. Washer and drier will be no problem.

Hmm... I moved a washer and dryer with my Taco before I got the TSB and noticed no problem. ;-) Good story though, i'm glad you put them in their place. My dealership tried to inform me that the TSB covers only 4x4 and Prerunners, omiting the fact that speedway blue, hood scoop, body colored bumpers, etc, means TRD, WHICH is Prerunner or 4x4 only lol

you would think that since warranty is paying for it that the dealership would jump all over. it's FREE money. i work for a VW dealer and i would love to do a paying job all day long-the economy has everybody scarred to spend money even if it's fixing your only mode of transportation. we used to hate warranty work but right now it's the only thing we have.:D
