Toyota Announces Voluntary Safety Recalls of Certain Camry, Venza and Tacoma Vehicles

Mine went on about a month ago but being a college student and paying on this damn truck still i put it off but hopefully im in the recall

I just heard on the news that 2005 + Tacomas were being recalled for problems with the airbags. Has anyone heard or known about this?

Yep, heard about it yesterday....only the fuckers reporting it gave no detail what it was about. Lame. Glad it is just something simple. No issues with my 08 regarding clock spring or airbag light but will let them do their thing whenever it comes around.....as long as there is no trimming of the steering wheel or anything retarded like the gas pedal thing was that goes with it.

 

Toyota recalls over 681,000 vehicles in US

The bulk of the recall is for Tacoma trucks for model years 2005 to 2009

DETROIT — Toyota Motor Corp said on Wednesday it is recalling more than 681,000 cars and trucks in the U.S. market to address potential problems.
The Japanese automaker said it will recall about 495,000 Tacoma pickup trucks from model years 2005 to 2009 to replace a part in the steering wheel. It is also recalling about 70,500 Camry mid-sized cars and 116,000 Venza crossover vehicles from model years 2009 to 2011 to replace a stop lamp switch.
Toyota said it is not aware of any accidents or injuries in either case.
For the Tacoma, Toyota will replace the steering wheel spiral cable assembly because friction may occur over time involving that part, which may result in the driver's side airbag being deactivated and not deploying in an accident.
For the Camry and Venza, silicon grease during assembly may lead to increased electrical resistance that can cause the vehicle not to start or the shift lever not to move from the "park" position, Toyota said.
Both fixes will take about 30 minutes, the company said. Owners of the affected Tacomas will be notified in early April, while the others will be alerted as soon as Toyota has the necessary replacement parts.

 

just read in this mornings paper about a recall on 05>09 tacos for a steering wheel spiral cable assembly. what is this? i know the dealer won't want to talk to you until you receive your letter.

 

its the cable in the steering column that controls the airbag.

I don't know if this has been threaded yet, I just read this on CNN about a Tacoma recall for 2005 to 2009 models for airbag issue due to a rubbing cable in the steering column. Here's the link:

Why are threads combining?

 

I found out after they cut mine I could signed a waiver to have avoided it. Just tell the service advisor you want the waiver (information I received from Toyota corporate)

Taking my 09 in monday

 

They are already doing the recall work they said they would start doing later in the year ?

 

I went to my dealer and they said they had one part in stock for the recall. My only concern is that it's the same part not a revised one. If they put the same part back in I'm going to make them replace it with thenew part when it comes out.

Yes its been on for about a month now
