How do I eliminate the seatbelt beep?

hey whatsup people?!

this is my first post aside from my introduction.. I couldn't find the answer to this so far so i figured I'd just ask again, as I'm sure alot of other people are wondering the same thing.. Does anyone know off hand how to eliminate the seatbelt beeping noise! I understand that it's for my safety and I wear my seatbelt everytime I get in my truck, but alot of times I put it on after I put my truck in drive and it beeps a few times in between which is AGGRAVATING!! Anyhow, I read a consumer report on my truck (09 Tacoma TRD) and one person reviewing it said that they figured out how to do it w/o spending a dime and that it was easy.. Anyhow, if someone can help me out with this I'd be way grateful! If not , no sweat.. In the words of Steve Polycronopolis, I'll "DEAL WITH IT!".. lolz.. lata!

 

1) Turn the Car 'ON', but do not start the engine (Leave your foot off the brake). Cycle your trip reset knob until it reads ODO. Turn the ignition back off. Wait a couple of seconds.
2) Make sure seat belt is not fastened
3) Turn the ignition back on, do not start the car (Leave you foot off the break) As soon as you see everything light up, press and hold the trip reset knob and do a long 12 second count.
4) Keep your finger on the trip reset knob. Fasten your seat belt, as soon as you fasten your seat belt, you should see the ODO display go from XXXX miles to "b-on". At that time take your finger off the trip reset knob and press it again. It should cycle to "b-off". You should be all set and turn the ignition off and unfasten your seat belt.

This worked on my 08, should work on your 09, worth a try!

 

Yep, it works on the '09's... Did this one before I even drove it off the lot.

Or you can dismantle the steering colum and unhook the two wires ?

I live in the mountains and am getting in and out opening and closing gates. The beeping was really annoying...

Worked like a charm on my '09... The dealer couldn't even help me do it while I was there today...

 

Does this trick do the passenger and driver?

The write up in the mods section has instructions for driver and passenger, but the driver side instructions (which is what was posted here) disabled both for me.

 

Yup, this one works for both. It's a must. I have it printed out and put in my manual, because you'll need to re-enter it if your ECU ever gets reset.
