Shifter knobs

This has been talked about before, on a auto shift knob, does anyone know if Scion knobs will work Reason I ask is while I was picking up my switches, they had a bunch on shift knobs, and alot of them were custom and bad butt looking, some also were high $$.

 

I don't know... just unscrew yours and bring it in with you to look at them side by side... Personally I think getting aftermarket shifter heads for autos is kinda a waste and cheesy but to each their own (yes mine is auto)

 

The threads on the auto shifter are 8mm X 1.25 on the 2008

 

Does anyone know if the shifter knob on an FJ automatic is just a knob or does it have a shift lock. Pull up or push down to move through the shift gate? If not I wonder if it would spin onto the "Coma?

 

Just for the heck of it I picked up a Hurst shifter, I guess you would call it the upright style. In any case, it states it will fit Toyota, it has a number of adapters (around 8 of them). Sad news it will not fit , but I am still going to keep looking and thinking of an idea.

 

You could probably drill and tap one of the inserts thats close to the size of the threads on the shifter.

 

if i remember correctly hurst makes two different t-handle shifters...one comes w/metric threaded inserts and the other has sae threaded inserts

 

This wasn't the T handle, but more of the upright version, looked pretty bad A*#.
As for the spacers, they were all to large the shift rod itself. flpooed right over it.

 

I had a hurst t handle on my truck,(6sp man.) It fit without the adapters, the only nut you need is the retainer nut. You put the retainer on first, then screw on the handle. Once you have it where its comfortable, You tighten up the retainer snug to the bottom of the t-handle.

 

This is the knob that I like The white version is also neat.

I've been thinking of how I can make a brass knuckle shifter for my truck

 

Is anyone still interested in buying shifter knobs? If so, I can machine some custom ones and probably sell them for a pretty decent price.

 

I have a TRD shifter knob that is a ball, about the size of a cue ball maybe a little smaller. I love it, I have tried several but this is a great fir for me. Can find it for about 30-40 dollars.

I've been lookin around for some shift knobs. I have an 08 6 spd. What do you have in mind? I think it would be a great idea. And maybe get a list of people that want them and you could make them all at the same time.

 

Im not sure yet. I have been looking at the knobs out there, and none of them really catch my interest. I like simplistic and clean. I will draft up some ideas and post them to see what others think, but if you have any ideas and you would like me to model it up, let me know.
