Well, I think you should do a DC SB definitely Off Road but you can install a much better sound system than the JBL is. Although the stock system sounds pretty decent. I still say install your own system if you're on the fence about the JBL.

I just went back to building my Toyota on the website and it doesn't look like I can get TRD OR package without the JBL. If all I am getting is JBL and Bluetooth I could care less and would opt for the lesser package. But again not sure if it is available in my area which is Southern California. The stereo is the last things that I will add to my truck...that is after, lift(Kings, Icons, etc), tires, wheels (at least paint or powdercoat black), bumper (F&R), winch, safari rack..and much more.

Just looked on another site and there is 1k difference from the JBL and NON JBL price. I would save the 1k put that towards the suspension.

Isn't the DC available in a long bed and a short bed? Seems to me I've seen both. at least in previous model years.
Anyways, I love my AC. But I have no kids and anyone behind the driver that's taller then 5'6" makes me have to pull the seat forward and I'm 6'0". And it's not that comfortable for extended periods of time. If I pull the headrest out, the driver's seat will go almost flat.

Good luck with your choice and enjoy the truck stock before you do any major mods.

Buy what you want now and live with no regrets, 900.00 is about 21.00 a month over the period of a 5 year loan. Peanuts for it would cost you to possibly trade in later or be unhappy. I see people make that mistake all of teh time and later say I wish I shoulda, coulda, woulda. I see it happen when people buy motorcycles, they buy a smaller bike and regret it later and trade it in yada yada yada. Buy what you want.

    Bottom line.

Not much worse than settling for something and having it haunt you after the fact.

If you have a family or ever plan on having kids in the near future get the double cab. All the extra space is worth it.

There have been many times where I wished I had a double cab. But I love my A/C. I like having the long bed without the longer wheel base and having room for my stuff in the backseat is perfect. I keep my rear seats folded down and use it for a place to sleep on occasion. It suits my needs perfectly. But since on the '09s the seats don't fold flat I'd go with a D/C.

i have an ac and i love it mostly bc of the bed space. not to mention you cant get the extened bed dc with a manual 6spd which makes driving fun. also with the ac you have enough room to let people ride in the back but not enough that every time you go somewhere your driving. ac all the way

$900 isn't enough money to keep you from getting exactly what you want, IMO. I think the DC makes for a more versatile vehicle. Another thing, with the back seats folded down, you have a lot of protected cargo room that is easily accessible.

I'm loving my access cab!!!It fits 4 people! and the bed is a good size! ...
I have to say i am impressed with the amount of space in the access cab...the space is just as big as the 1st gen double cabs (i had an 03 dc which i dont miss)!

Though it is up to you! good luck on your choice!

    Thanks for this thread.

I have been going back and forth about this too. In Canada, you can't get an auto double cab shortbox. I found a used one from the states but it's not the right time to pull the trigger, so i am considering getting a used Access cab auto to save on the huge wheelbase issues.

Usability for the AC? pretty much going to be me, my girlfriend and our dog most of the time. Occassional 45 min each way mountain bike trips with 3 or 4 guys.

access cab looks waaaay sexier, haha, and i have an excuse not to give annoying people rides all the time! Plus, I think the whole concept of a double-cab truck is false and vain. I mean, I think the ridgeline is the suitable vehicle if you want to haul stuff while seating 5 people comfortably. Plus I cant imagine not having a full 6' of bed space, however, you could get the DC long bed, which you might as well choose the tundra over.

    just my .02

I went w/dc, sb. I thought about the ac but decided on the dc, just to give me more interior room. I don't haul a lot so the sb works out good for me. I just wanted more interior room. I had a Ford Ranger that you had o open the front doors to access the rear & i didn't like that. As far as room in the rear both Ranger & Tacomas are about the same so it comes down to the convenience & bed space whichever you prefer.

If I were you I will chose an AC or db cab long bed they are both more versatile and wayy more sexier than your dc sb which is disproportionate+the very long wheelbase of the db cab long bed will give you more comfort, that's my 02

I like the DC, it's great, I just don't need it. I drive solo 70% of the time and the other 30% I only have 1 passenger; I have had 4 dudes in my AC, all over 6' tall and they were comfy once in the back jumper-seats, but they couldn't move at all and me and shotgun had to put our seats forward to allow for more room. It's fine for me though, I need the reg-bed and don't have kids...
