So here are a couple of OEM switch options that may work, if you are willing to spend the coin. My local dealership quoted me $84 on the Tundra down-sliding window switch, and that does not include a harness connector. Not exactly sure what the 84152 switch is below but it looks like it may be a side slider switch.

 

I am very interested but curious how you keep the latch from locking?

 

It's a little hard to explain, but basically the window is open 1/8" (i.e., just shy of being latched) when the power window regulator is in its fully closed position. The window is still fully sealed by the weatherstripping and it is thus fully weatherproof, and also can't be forced open against the resistance of the motor and cable system, much in the same way that your drivers door power window can't be forced open.

One of my customers removed the latch from the glass completely using a chisel, but I don't recommend it, as the chances of breaking the glass are significant enough.

You keep the window open about the 1/8th of an inch that BenWA said, but its fully closed. All the weather stripping keeps out all water. I have had zero problem. Love this mod. not sure about removing the latch, I would worry about breaking the window.

 

Is the latch basically held on with double sided tape or some type of glue?

 

Ben's method works fine, but you can also use the linear actuator method. Get a few small rubber washers and put a small zip tie thru them. Place the washers behind the latch and tighten the ziptie down some. Washers keep the latch up. Get a black ziptie and its not very visible. Downside is that keeping the spring compressed that much may make the spring permanently compressed.

 

You do not have to modify the latch at all the way we did it (Ben's method). Since you have the window open 1/8" it never lets the latch get to the edge and clamp down and lock. It stays right on the edge and smoothly slides open and closed with no leaking or binding. No modifying the latch at all. Easy.

 

By "latch", are you referring to the bracket that slides the window glass? If so, it is secured with adhesive.

Or are you referring to the actual window latch itself? As far as I know, the latch is secured to the glass with similar adhesive as to what is used to hold a rearview mirror onto a windshield.

Yes the window latch. I understand that nothing needs to be done with it for your system to work. Just thought it would look even cleaner if you could remove it. I'm going to take a closer look at it once I take delivery of mine.

Might want to search around some, I recall seeing a thread on removing the latch and, if I recall correctly (suspect!!), it did not turn out well.

You can remove the latch carefully with a naked utility knife blade, carefully working it thru the adhesive between the latch and the window glass. You will be left with a black patch on the glass that you can't get rid of, though.

 

^^^I guess it would have to be on there pretty good otherwise people could just break into your truck easily.

It must be installed different than the rearview mirror. Glass companies have to remove the mirror to replace windshields.
