If you don't draw blood, you're doing it wrong!
Would I become a pariah if I installed a 1/2" spacer and a 1" block on my OME setup?

Not if I don't become one for going back on my own statement about diesel and say I'm now considering a lifted Titan. They are SO cheap. Bad gas mileage (like 10-12 mpg city) but should lower my insurance and I wouldn't be buying premium gas OR run the risk of a turbo motor exploding on me. Oh, and I could haul shit/tow shit.

Thoughts? Tundras are not worth the prices they want for them.

Looking at either a 2004 or 2005. Both with around 60-70K miles on them.

Actually only one of them is lifted. The reviews I've read show them holding up pretty well. But that's why I post on here. I know some of you guys have experience with a lot of different rigs. What went wrong with your buddies' rigs?

I wouldn't talk TOO much shit about it, maybe...I've seen some scary videos of Titans wheeling and literally exploding transfer cases. This was a few year back though. Do want you want, just make it BADASS!!! Maybe someone who has personal experience will chime in.

*that banana thing really creeps me out...it keeps looking at me

I wouldn't be wheeling it. Far too large. I've got my 87 4Runner for that eventually. It would be a tow and haul rig. I would also probably drive my 4Runner to work and such. It gets about 18-19 mpg.

Stay Away from those years. if I was looking i would look at 2008 and + you can find them cheap. 04-07 are known to have exploding rear differentials. its a modified Dana 44 built to nissan specs and is complete garbage.
All models are know to have crappy radiators and your only real option is to get a Stillen aluminum replacement to fix the problem. Make sure you get E rated tires because it will eat just about anything else. While premium fuel is not recommended, Run it the truck runs way better on the good stuff.
Be prepared to replace brakes and rotors they are crap and warp easily.
the other thing that is knows to go out on a regular basis is the front suspension about every 50k you'll need new shocks better off to go with Icon or king right off the bat.
the 08+ have VVT on the intake valves but not exhaust. The trucks do haul ass I ran a 14.1 in the 1/4 in mine

Anything else you would like to know?

I'm aware of the differential issues. Both trucks I'm looking at have already been upgraded on that issue. The radiator issue seems minor. I can do that work myself if it comes up.

Why do you say that about the tires? Won't any full size truck eat up tires from being so god damn heavy?

I know about the brakes too. I don't haul a lot and don't do a ton of high speed driving (don't live near freeways) so not too worried about that either.

The main things I would be worried about is major engine trouble or trannies that need to be replaced every 50K miles. THOSE are things I would not like. Wondering if that's what Rob is going to say his buddies have experienced.

Lee, back to your Titan shit lol

My buddy is on his 3 tranny with under 100k. The other has around 70ish and has just bitched about the front end always breaking suspension components. I'd never own one tho, not worth all that BS.

Most of the transmission problems are caused by the shift valves in the transmission most people upgrade them it can be done in the drive way. The other problem is when people have the transmission power flushed instead of under the power of the trans it's self. I don't recall seeing any engines ever self-destructing.
Another issue is the IPDM (intelligent power distribution module) going out and causing strange electrical problems.

They really aren't that bad of a truck the engines are amazing 6-bolt one piece carriage main, titanium 5 valve. The RE505A trans is the same one that's used in the 350z with different gearing.

They hold up very well in crashes. I had 2 accidents in mine, both minor but kept me safe.

I have a couple 700's, one in 300 Win Mag and 30-06. Excellent rifles. Really wanting to get one in .308 to turn into a distance shooting rifle.

I would go with one in .223 or .308 if you're only going to be at the range and not hunting.
