I really like flying but get sick as a dog every time I do. In the army, Huey's about did me in and I even got sick in C-141s and C-5As. I tried for a license once and have flown a Cessna 150, 170 and Piper Cherokee but my stomach just wouldn't let me finish.

When I was a kid I liked to build models of these because I had an uncle who flew them in the war.

45ACP, those A10s are pretty amazing planes, especially when they are shooting that big 30mm cannon at something a few hundred meters in front you.

    just for starters.

Had an uncle that flew C-47's in Europe during the war. Unfortunately he passed away before I was old enough to ask him in detail about it.

    .

It's weird what makes us sick at our stomachs. Any aircraft ride and/or stunt = no problems. ... :D

Any roller coaster & etc = no problems. ... :D

But put me on that kiddie's ride at Disney World (Spinning Tea Cups) and I am green & sick as a dog. ... :(

Just found this thread. Im a big aviation buff.

For historical I would go with a P-51D or the Mosquito, all wood, super light weight. Used for special missions.

For current, I would say the A-10.

Yeah they were developing a high intensity laser that could disable aircraft and missiles. It's test bed was a modified 747, then they made it small enough to fit into pods which mounted to the fighters. Problem was power source. Some space age stuff...

For 1 thing they cut production of them. And the ones they did built sit on the ground due to mx. Expect the F-35 to be canned as well.

That's pretty sweet. I fly thru the Whidbey class C all the time and have shared the airspace with these guys a few times. More commonly P3's and Prowlers though.

I am an A&P that used to work for a major airline, and I respect all the old radial planes and especially love the Blackbird, but I am partial to the B-727. I was working in Chicago when one missed the runway in very heavy fog and actually landed in the grass next to the runway and it was so foggy that the tower could not see him and another plane saw the 727 when he landed! Plane stayed intact and no injury's most people thought it was a rough landing!

727's are beast! Last forever and you can get 100,000 plus hours on the airframe without much trouble. Hawaiian air uses them for most of their inter island travel. Only down side is the engine up in the empenage. If that thing has a compressor failure and blades go flying your gonna die :(

You are right Kid, but in all the years I worked on them, I dont remember a failure of the P&W JT8 where the blades left the case. On the other hand I have seen catastrophic failure where blades left the case on the GE CF-6. The Old DC-10, and MD-11's that we had, used CF-6 but I cant recall any failures that compromised the case on those planes either.

I worked on F-117A's in the USAF but I had to cross over from blue to green and get my hands on my favorite ride of all time

There is a couple famous crashes of the DC-10 due to compressor failure.

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Airlines_Flight_232

Are any 727's fly by wire or are they all hydralic?
