Ya, Tonkas were the Toyotas of toy trucks.
You couldn't hurt them if you tried... but they could hurt you.

Can't count the number of times I got pinched fingers and cuts from those trucks. But it was all good.
    Tonka taught me that...
    Pain is fleeting
    Blood? I'll make more
Moving a dirt pile across the back yard with Tonkas? FUCKING WORTH IT!

But I had a camper that was a "BuddyL" brand. It was pretty durable. Pickup was powder blue and of course the camper was white. I don't even remember if it was a Ford or Chevy pickup.

Veiwmaster, It was like crack to me, stare at the same flipping disc over and over. Any body have a Vacuum Form, or a Creepy Crawler maker? Tinker Toys and Toggle Toys, GI Joe, and not those little cheesy-ass ones. I'm talking the ones that were over a foot tall, no "Kung-Fu grip, no fuzzy hair or beard, just molded plastic hair, with a bitching scar on his face.

Rubber band rifles made from a 1x2 and a clothespin.

I made a few "double barrel" and then everyone wanted one!
No kidding. Looking back now, it seems kinda dumb, but then? Way cool.
"Mattel Thingmaker" was the "Creepy Crawker" thing.
That was one nasty toy! You could burn the shit out of yourself if you touched the "skillet" (or the molds when done), you could cook the juice into a stinking pile of ash... probably a few house fires from that thing being left plugged in.
Mine "lived" in a kitchen cabinet. The molds and liquid were in my room, but the cooker lived in the kitchen and that's where it was used.
But the big thing about that was the "juice".
    That stuff was bigtime toxic!

Tinker toys rocked... Did all kinds of cool things with them before moving to the erector set. Never did get into any of the action figures. My friends all had Joe, but I didn't.

I remember that game and frogger. Good times, had hours and hours of fun with just those two games.

I really loved the tonka trucks when I was really young.

Hell yeah, you burnt yourself a time or two, but then you learned better huh? I had a few "molding" toys, remember Encredibe Eatables? Kinda the same as the ThingMaker, (good call BTW) but you could eat the shit after it cooked/cured, kinda like a softer gummy-bear. Then I had this thing (can't remember the name) that you could mold (from plastic pellets) tops and bottoms of cowboys and Indians, and then they kinda snapped together. You could even remelt them, and remold. After awhile all the colors were just a shitty tan color. Again that Vacuum Form was cool, well you know, it heated up plastic sheets a formed them around molds of various shapes.

yup, did some serious mudding with those dump trucks. We actually wore all the "tread" off the wheels on those things over about 4 years.
