Ok you win haha, i had more room then that but i still didnt have much room, i however park outside as i plan on lifting my taco and it then will be to tall to get into my garage as the shark fin (xm) only have about 4" to spare and with a 3" lift and 32.5" tires i will rip it right off... oh well i park the bike in the garage and it needs its space or it gets cranky haha.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .
    In pickups ....... went from a 2000 Tundra ... to 2004 Tacoma ... to 2004 Titan ... to a 2006 Frontier ... to a 2007 Tundra ... to a 2009 Tacoma ... to a 2011 Tacoma .... and will stay with Tacomas. ... :D

Would like some dual function tow mirrors with convex mirror section ... like on the Tundra's tow mirrors.

A 4.6L V-8 with S/C option :burnrubber: would be cool too ... (in same size Tacoma and Gen. 2 model).

I agree that it needs a light in the bed.
and better brakes without a doubt. what's up with the frum rears in this day and age.
and a more efficient 6, or even better an 8 would be cool
other then that no complaints yet, but I've only had the new one for a little over a week, and pretty much the same things sucked in my old one, but everything else is much nicer.

I have had 3 Tacomas and 3 Tundras in the past years. I had a Tacoma the first year they came out and moved up to a Tundra a few years later. I think the 2nd gen Tacoma is a more capable truck for off roading stock, right out of the box, plus there are tons of aftermarket mods available. The 2nd gen Tundra Crewmax I had was a beast of a truck, would pull anything with no problem. It did have the 5.7 which made a huge difference in power, but also at the gas pump. I have since traded back to a Tacoma. I have a 2012 which I fell in love with when I saw the new front end and revamped dash. I always hated the dash in the 2009 Tacoma I had, it just looked cheap to me. The revamped head unit looks just like the one I had in my Crewmax, and the dash lights are way better to me than the orange readout on the previous years. Overall the Tacoma is one capable truck, but so is the Tundra. I love them both, I would give the slight edge to my Tacoma because I love the look of the stock TRD wheels with beefer aftermarket tires like duratracs. The Tundra stock wheels blow in my opinion. If I had to choose between the stock Tacoma TRD Offroad 4x4 Double cab I have now and the Stock 4x2 crewmax I traded, I would choose the Tacoma. I guess the bottom line for me is I am a Toyota man, have been for the past 34 years and probablly always will be.

    I've owned 3 Tacomas.

1997 Standard Cab, 4x4, 2.7L, 5spd - Great truck, no power. No frills but I abused the hell out of it with virtually no problems. It never left me stranded and would climb a wall.

2003 Extended Cab, 4x4 TRD, 3.4L, 5spd - I've owned this exact truck twice. I traded it on an X-Runner (below) and then went back and got this truck back. I paid dearly, but I love this truck.

2005 X-Runner, I owned it about 2 months (don't ask). It was a fun truck to drive but I had to go back and get my 2003 back.

Overall, the Tacoma is a great truck. It's reliable, good looking, and fun to drive. Most of the things that annoy me are superficial (goofy clock location, motor ticks, etc). When I look at other midsized trucks, there is no comparison:

    Dodge Dakota - Junk
    Ford Ranger - Ford sucks
Chevy Colorado - Cheesy (why didn't they keep the S10 and improve the the old ZR2? Stupid)
Frontier - Probably not bad, but I'm just not a fan of Nissan in general

My biggest complaint is that a diesel still isn't offered in a Tacoma. This is becoming ridiculous. At a minimum they should offer a small V8.

I've never even ridden in a Frontier nor have I had any friends that have had them.

Why did you switch and what differences have you experienced?

If it blew up today I'd either buy another one without the TRD package and buy all the upgrades I plan on doing anyway.. or I'd buy a 4Runner (08 or newer) and run that like I do my truck now.
