2012 Tiedowns

OK, I did a search first and did not see this specifically. Saw a new 2012 at Costco and saw that there are Tiedowns on the front side wall of the bed similar to the old 1st gen tacos. Anyone know what the moco tied them into? Many discussions about the composite bed not being able to handle a load, like atvs, motorcycles, etc.

 

I don't know what is on the other side of them, but on the 2012 they are a factory installed tie down. I haven't used them, but I would assume that they are reinforced on the back end as they are meant to be used for the purpose of securing cargo.

 

Was back at Costco today and the Tacoma (new with dealer tags, out in front of the store) was still there. So I went and looked/felt under the wheel well on the side of the bed. There is a backing plate on the tiedown which is not very big at all. I am not sure how well it would hold a bike or atv. Based on some of the discussions I have seen about mounting tiedowns on the composite bed I am surprised that the moco did this.

 

Backed tiedowns are strong on the composite bed.

A bigger question is what the heck is a "moco"?

Ive had 2500 pounds of broken concreat I'm my composite bed with no problem. It can handle a load np
