I expect UGA to be in the SECCG, but I don't expect to be undefeated. We'll lose a game we shouldn't lose, and we'll have tough games (as ALWAYS) against UF and USC which could go either way. The schedule is in our favor of winning the East again this year. But to think we can actually win the SEC outright, I gotta see HUGE improvement from Crowell (Or sit him on the bench and play the freshman), and I gotta see Aaron Murray step up when it really counts. He has a lot of talent, but it seems in the big games he makes stupid mistakes and loses accuracy. He's got 2 years under his belt now, so he should have some confidence goin into this year. We'll see. Can't freakin wait for opening day.

Also, our receiving corps is young and very talented. Our defense should be good again, but losing some DBs could hurt us.

Losing Orson Charles really sucks, but I have to admit I got tired of hearing Lundquist talking about how he went to HS with Murray. That, I WON'T miss.

Vearn sucks. Besides his man crush on Lil Nickey, he don't know WTF is going on half the time. I don't care for Danielson either, but the guy knows his shit. I'm a little late to this, all the Boise stuff, and I do agree with a lot Bobbb said. BS can beat any one out there on a given day, (GA. last year OK. couple years ago) Bammer, sure they could, (see Utah), however what BS, and those ugly ass uniform wearing Ducks do not get is, they CAN NOT do it every week, like any other SEC team has to try to accomplish. Chris Peterson is prolly one of the brightest coaches out there, hell, I pray he don't come to the SEC. He is awesome with making do with what he as to work with. But, again try a three or four week run with GA., LSU, Bammer, Arky even FL. and AU, SC. and your dropping a few of those games.

I can't wait for the season to start also.....I think both of our teams will have a pretty good season but u guys will have the upper hand with a good schedule. If we play our best I see a loss or 2. I'm thinking 3 to 4 losses is more realistic with this seasons schedule.

Yeah, I also think USC is going to be hot. Crapshoot as to who else comes out swinging. I'll place my pre-season NC game bets down at the sportsbook once the 'beauty pageant' rankings come out.

Boise State can play with anybody given enough time to prepare. They need to move into a real conference to prove that they can win week after week before they get my (or most people's) respect. It's not something you can just do, but that's what it will take.

Even after they do that, they won't have my respect until they get rid of the smurf turf. I'd be embarrassed of that if I were a fan/alum of BSU. It's fine for D-II schools or whatever, but if you want to be treated like you belong with the big boys, dress the part.

The point I was trying to make, except the tuff part. Can you imagine if the Ducks, (even Cal.) with there uber-bright yellow costumes came and played a game on that blue shit, it would be contrast overload...

It's too much to watch even if it was Bama/Penn St playing in the most boring uniforms in college football. It's a gimmick, and a joke, and I can't see them as a real program as long as they keep it.

The thing about Boise is that they know they're not one of the 'big boys', but they strive to be better every year. That's why they've gone from a nobody school with a bunch of colorblind, potato-eating farmboys to legitimately being in the national conversation (not because of their field color) in a relatively short amount of time. Heck, you just said they can play with anybody with time to prep. They've long been able to produce great football teams--on their level, but always want to be better. That's why they've kept steadily moving further and further up the CFB food chain, one rung at a time. Obviously the Big West, WAC and MWC don't fit in with their goals so they're still fighting for what they want.

Too many schools like being big fish in a small pond. Look at Montana, they used to be in the Big Sky with BSU. They're still there and Boise is long gone after moving to 1-A in 1996. When Boise (followed by NV, HI and Fresno) decided to bail on the WAC, the conference tried to get MT (among others) to move up from the FCS. As MT is basically the BMOC in the Big Sky, they chose to stay behind rather than suck up the challenge.

There are plenty of folks who want to summarily dismiss Boise without giving them credit for actually busting their asses to get to where they are and I thank you for not doing so. They're still working at it and will continue to do so until they're actually recognized for what they can do on the field and not just for the color of their field.

Now as to the smurf turf, that was done (as a gimmick) in 1986. They realized that the only way they were going to get national recognition was to throw something out there for people to remember. This is, after all, a money game and nobody gives you any coin unless they think they can make money off you for TV contracts.

Well... it worked. It's like the old Hollywood saying that there's no such thing as bad publicity. Initially it was seen as some sort of gag, but people remembered it even if they didn't remember the school. Now, after their upset of OU in the Fester Bowl, nobody's forgotten it. Yeah, there are a bunch of copycats nowadays, but I don't think the blue is going anywhere anytime soon because it's not just a gimmick anymore, but has become a part of the institution. There will always be folks that don't care for it and dismiss us for it, but that's water off a duck's back.

Boise State is not some flash-in-the-pan team that comes out and runs a bunch of gimmick plays to win games. They do run them, but no more than anyone else. Their goal is to play hard-nosed, smashmouth football against the best teams in the country and they won't stop until they get there--even with a blue home field. Sermon off.

I will say this, Boise has guts and is willing to put themselves on a national stage and put up with ridicule. But like t4daddy said, I don't believe that the smurfs could last all season in a conference like the SEC, big 10, big 12 or even PAC 12. I don't think they would have a great season in a big conference. Though I do think that it wouldn't take long for them to find a way to win recuiting battles to get who they want for their team. They would have potential to win their conference within 5 years. IMO, boise should ditch the big east and try to sneak into the big 12.

Yeah, I wish they'd bag the BE as well and I really think their best fit is in the PAC. I think that would give them the best rivalry games purely for geographical reasons if nothing else. Lots of real estate between teams on this side of the country which makes getting good crowd participation tougher. The good thing about them being ridiculed on the big stage is that it's all been because of their field and not for their play.

I agree on the location thing of conferences. It's total bullshit, the're ruining college sports for the sake of the almighty dollar (and let's face it, what's not). My older brother once said something that made a ton of sense, "a kid in school, should be able to get in his old jalopy, (I understand that now on major college campuses the're are nothing but BMWs and Lexus vehicles, but the point remains) and be able to drive to a conference game and back in a weekend". How does a kid afford to drive/fly across the country to see a ball game. But, again it's NOT about the students, or even alums, it's about the money...

I cant believe how many assholes are on this thread. Boise State is legit and I think they have proven that. Put them in any conference in the country and they would be top 5 in any of them. As far as the blue turf, I love it. But who cares what I think and I'm sure the broncos don't give a fuck what anyone else thinks about it either.

As far as conference affiliation I doubt Boise would decline an offer from any of them but the big east is the only one that came calling. So they help the big east keep their BCS status and Boise now has automatic bids for BCS games including the MNC. I for one cant wait to hear all you whiny little bitches after Boise State wins one.

I don't think that the big east is much of a step up from where they are now. The only team that is good, not just decent, there is WVU and they are moving to a bigger conference. But games between them and UH will be great to watch. I expect those two to end up claiming the big east this next season and for a few years to come.
