Alrighty.. Will do! I'll call you on my way home.

I didn't even know about HSV Fastener.. I'll look them up and go by there instead.

I'll make sure I get my Winch Bumper supports mounted that was if we have a problem.. I can get us out! I'll just have to remember to re-wire my add switch sometime this week..

As for the Caps, I have both of them off because I started my rear end last night and that's when I found out that my leaf pack bolt was cut short..

Thanks man! Where's the pics of your beast!? Did you get everything worked out!?

Nahh... I'd rather do a shackle flip kit, and I think I might be doing the cab mount chop here soon! I think I've decided to go a slightly different route with my truck..

You know how there are guys on here that do the fender mod with 3" lifts and stuff 35's..

Well would that same theory work for me to stuff 37's? Since technically I have 35's now and a 6" lift, would the same rules apply for me to move up to 37's?

BTW.. When I picked up my bumper the other day, (I picked it up from my buddy that owns the off-road shop in Lacey, Victory's ATV and Off-road, The same people who did my lift and tires) They asked me who I got my tires from this last time, and I looked at him funny and I told him they are the same one's he got me from when he did the lift. He laughed about it and basically his jaw dropped because he thought they at least looked like they have about 30% - 40% life left and I put about 50,000 mile on them already. He couldn't believe how long they've lasted.. I got these tires at just under 40,000 in August of 2009! LOL!

Moar lift! Why do you want 37s so bad? You will have to regear. I'd say 4.56s at least

But sure, the same concepts apply as 35s and 3 inch lift.

4.56's too expensive.. So i'll go 4.88's! HAHA! I'm not sure.. I guess because I'm used to 35's.. And yes I do want to be bigger but I was talking with Jason and he was basically saying the lower you can sit the better. he's got a Jeep that sits just as tall as my truck with 40's and that thing can go EVERYWHERE!!! In all honesty it's a dream that I doubt will happen just due to the expensive costs of tires..

Whatever I do I found a guy that said he would order me a new set of wheels and tires and allow me to trade in my current set.. So i'm going to save a lot on money when it comes to buying my new set!

Wheelbase is a BIG factor in a jeep on 40's that can go everywhere. The breakover is insane with 40's on a wheelbase that short. Why the 'zukis with even just 33's are stupid capable. It's a damn 4 wheeler on 33's, lol.

KYLE- we got the timing belt and everything off and replaced water pump, thermostat and everything else. My buddy went to put the timing belt on and knocked the left camshaft out of timing. His dad is a certified mechanic and has been FOREVER and he will be coming up here in the morning.... Hope it didn't do too much. Hope he can solve it without us having to take it apart and fix it!!!:(:notsure:

I bought my first house when i was 18. I'm currently kicking myself for getting rid of it. Take the house, it's an investment in your future.

Can't wait to see the pics man!

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.

Thats a loaded question. Whats the house cost, whats its condition, location, does it need work? You are right though, at your age and with a truck payment, it will be pretty hard to get a decent sized mortgage. Kind of why I'm waiting on a truck since I'd like to get into a house in the next year.

And always consider this, buying something as big as a house from a family friend might not always be a good idea. Why are they willing to give you a steal of a deal? and is it a steal of a deal? IF you get a good deal, you might be in for a lot of work and that could ruin a relationship. If you think you got a good deal, and realize after the fact you didn't, that could ruin a relationship. I guess it depends on how well you trust this person and how important continuing that relationship is. Always gotta watch out for number one.

So true on ruining a good friendship over a steal on a house I agree on buying a house for the future but depending on the cost and condition if its worth letting the truck go then go for it but if not keep the truck and keep looking for a house for a good deal

Kyle truck looks great man how'd it feel cutting your bedsides up nice job on the hc bumper though

Well he's selling it because he's 96 and moving into a retirement home. Its a 3b 2 bath in meridianville eith a brand new roof. He said he would leave all his appliances and furniture and even his lawnmower. Its a little over an acre lot. Id give the insidr of the housr a 7.5 out of ten. He told me i could have it for 10 grand under what it appraises for. So its a steal I'd say. Haha just not sure if i want to sell the truck for it

I gotta say, not that I'm much older than most of you guys, but I wish I'da waited a little on getting into debt on a truck and a house. I'm 100% happy with my truck and house, it's not that. It's just that not having debt you can do a lot of things. I say go for the paid off truck anyway, and start sacking away cash either as a down payment on a house, or to do something like go to Europe for 10 days, or take an epic road trip out west and eat great food, something you're only gonna do before you're saddled with real responsibilities of mortgage, couple of car payments, family, etc.

The wife and I managed to save up and go out to Tahoe a couple of years ago, and it was absolutely amazing. It's gorgeous out there. I wish we'd kinda rethought things when we were dating, had a small apartment, and only a dog to think about. Not that we're in any way unhappy where we are now, but the flexibility we had 6 years ago was just a different spot than we're in today.

Not trying to tell anyone how to live or anything, that's just been our experience. I say you've got your whole life to get into debt for nice things. You only get to live for just you when you're young and single. Drive a cheap car, save a pile of money, and do something fun with it.

One thing to keep in mind, you'd be selling something that's worth the most it's going to be worth from now on, and buying something that's the least it's going to be worth from now on. Generally speaking at least. Not saying necessarily this house, but in general. I realize that's contradictory to what I said above, to go get into a mortgage... just kinda throwing out points to consider. ;)

Also, "10k under appraised" depends on who's appraising it. We learned that when we bought our house. If the lender is having it appraised for loan approval, it's going to come in just a hair over what the selling price is. If it's an appraisal for a re-fi, they won't pull anything totally crazy, but in general it's in the lender's best interest to have it appraise favorably so that they get the loan business. If it's an appraisal to remove PMI, they're gonna be a little more hard nosed about it, because again, they want you paying PMI. If you want a really objective idea going in, I'd get an agent (best if it's not one making money in any way off of you, family friend, etc) to pull comps in the area. I think for appraisal purposes they can go 3 miles out.

How long do you have left on your truck? As a first time home buyer, you need to look at the benefits you can claim with that. The government gives some bonus. Also your taxes will decrease due to claiming the mortgage interest. Mortgage rates have been the lowest they will probably ever be for the last few months. No telling how long they will stay this low.

When I got my divorce, I didn't have my truck payment and decided to keep the house. After a little time, my old truck started costing me more and I needed to replace it for reliability. Bought my Tacoma and things were tight for a little while. Started to loosen back up a bit and then got married. Things have tightened back up a bit again, but livable. If I was smart, I would drop this house and get something smaller, but I like it and the neighborhood. I'm kicking around the idea to refinance to drop another percentage point.

It's easy to find mortgages at 3.25% right now which I do believe is the lowest they have ever been. Could be wrong and if I am its at least very close.

and 10k under what it appraises for? Usually houses appraise for a value that doesn't reflect the current economy. My dad is a home inspector and he sees houses going for well under 10% of what they are asking (especially in somewhere like meridianville. Not knocking the area, but home values aren't holding in areas like that because of their distance from huntsville).

To correctly make your decision, you are going to have to do so much research it will make your head spin. Don't just jump at the first deal you come across. If we had a little more info about the house, and possible value, we all could give you a little more honest opinion.

edit: not to mention, if the fella is that old, chances are that the house is pretty old, and most likely you are going to run into a bunch of problems with the house that can't be seen to the naked eye. I see it all the time with the houses I flip with my dad.

well he just told me it appraises at 114. said hed do 100 and since my grandfather is the realtor i wouldnt have closing fees sellers fees and i get to keep furniture, appliances, yard equipment etc etc. and the house is actually in great shape the kitchen and bathrooms were just redone and i did a lot of the work on it when i worked for my dad/granddads construction company about a year ago. he said he'd give me some time to think about it before he listed it.

If its not listed, you won't have to pay any costs anyways. It's just a FSBO.

Have you considered your monthly payments for all the house related stuff. Last time I checked, at 3.25 and 100k mortgage you are looking at approx 500 a month (30 year). Then you have to add in other costs like insurance and taxes and you are approaching approx 700ish a month. I'm not exact on these numbers as I do not own at the moment, the other guys will have a better idea of this.

You have a tough decision to make. At the point I am at in my life, I'd love to live at home and have very little bills. However, it is the time to buy (wish I could, since I am paying more for rent than I would on a mortgage)

yeah i figured it up and groceries, insurance, payment, utilities, and cable/internet would put me at about a grand a month. plus a truck payment for the first gen of about 200+125 insurance a month and 200 a month for gas. im so torn. cause i LOVE my truck. but i just think im ready to move out and with prices/intrest rates so low if not now then it might cost me in the long run. and brian to answer your question i JUST refinanced it like 2 months ago and have 3.5 years left

Not to offend you but I think you housing estimate alone might be a little low.

    I'd guess:

    Mortgage: 500
    insurance: ?
    taxes: ?
    Electric: 200 (to be safe)
cable/internet: 120 (give or take, better to err on the side of caution)
Water/garbage: 75-100 depending on time of year.

That puts you at 920 without without tax and insurance. I know there are some options to include taxes in the mortgage (I think, don't quote me.) but the less you pay interest on the better. I would think total living costs alone are going to put you at about 1200 give or take.

Your gas bill will also increase more than you think once you have your own place cause every little errand that has to do with a house, you are now responsible for doing.

i was figuring in my brother paying rent he said if i bought the place he'd pay 250 a month plus for his own food and split cable utilities. im gonna sit down with 2 pieces of paper. write down ever expense i have now, then estimate every expense i would have then. im also planning on selling my 4 wheeler so thats gonna either go toward paying off the 2nd gen or pay for half of the 1st gen if i go that route. idk i got some major thinking to do. it wouldnt be hard to afford it all. especially if i started working part time with my 2 days off. just trying to decide what i really want to do......

Edit: just put the truck on craigslist. going to look at the black 1st gen tomorrow morning. so if it sells ill be selling my low profile black toolbox, rubber Tacoma bed mat, bed lined avid bar with 2 light tabs, hella 500 black magics, and husky liners for the front. local guys get first dibs before i post a FS ad. so Kyle its your chance to get that low profile box man haha

This sounds like fun. How long is the trail? I would at least want to check it out, might even try it when i get the gears and locker for the front.
