Peeing in the dirt

Good people of tacomaworld...

I like to think of myself as somewhat concerned about 'matters green'. This includes being careful how often I flush the toilet. It occurred to me (cos I'm clever like that ) that when I'm outside instead of walking inside with dirty shoes etc to go for a pee, why not do it in the garden.

So here are some of my questions/thoughts...

Animals have done this forever, it can't be that bad for the groundwater (or is it?)
Will it kill plants/grasss? If so, only in excessive quantities?

Any other thoughts?

urine is acidic and also contains salt, neither are not tolerated well by most plants.

Now a little piss around the perimeter of your vegetable garden can help chase a few of the munching critters such as rabbits because they smell it as a mark of a predator and choose to go elsewhere to dine

 

Woman love this, I have told my GF that if every man would take one pee outside a day we would save a lot of water.

I pee outside more than once a day.

 

definitely will kill plants. Uric acid is potent.

 

Would living in Phoenix (where it hardly ever rains) make the problem better - cos it dries out - or worse - cos it never washes away?

 

Dig yourself an outhouse. Problem solved!

all I know is that when I was in grade school when playing out side, we all peed on the same tree (small tree) all year and it was dead by the end of the year.

 

It fertilizes but over fertilization kills. That's why when the dog takes a piss it kills the grass in the center but the grass surrounding it grows like a wildfire.

When you take a piss outside, dump a bucket of water on it to dilute it and the help spread it around the surrounding grass and create a more generalized fertilization.

 

So don't pee in one spot, spread it out.

 

I think it violates city ordnances here in Charlotte, so I do it only when the police aren't around. This is usually right after a clean kill after discharging my firearm and taking out a pest, again, a violation of our ordances but out of police earshot. I have found that actually avoiding police has served me well. My pe'er functions much better standing up anyway.

 

A dry area compounds the problem because the moisture evaporates and leaves behind salt deposits.

You see the evidence of salt deposits on lots of farms where they have poor soil and irrigation so have to rely on sprinklers and mass doses of man made fertilizer, the water evaporates and leaves behind the minerals and the salt in the fertilizer build up too the point where crops no longer thrive.

I have been gardening for many years and what I have learned over the years is that soil isn't just dirt, it is a highly developed ecosystem that needs a balance maintained and when you reach that balance you don't need a bunch of crap messing it up.

These are mine, Totally organic and nobody is gonna pee in my garden

We just wanted to see if we could kill the tree with Pee.

you are right. but who wants to pee in bottle then top it off with water.

 

Look at dog pee. It burns up the grass, but next season you notice very greener and lusher spots where it was burned up
