This sounds like the most likely cause. I have already reset the opti drive but that didn't do anything. I'll take it out and clean it today, but ill have to wait until tomorrow to test it because the weather is terrible here today.

Thanks for the help. I'll let you know how it works out.

If that doesn't work you can just by pass the opti drive system and plug your servos directly into your receiver. The only disadvantage of this is the possibility of accidentally hitting your gear changer switch thing and kicking it into reverse while you're moving forward. then it's  to your tranny.

I like the AE and Savage.. I'm sort of leaning towards the savage just because it's one of the truly "limitless" R/C's out there. Can you say 5.9?!

My SC10 took another shit. Pretty sure that's my fault though. Repacked the diff super tight and cranked the slipper down.. then drove on blacktop.. The gear in the middle is the one that failed. Is that the idler gear? It's between what I would call the "input" gear and the diff case.

I have a savage that is heavily modified and a friend who has the ae monster truck. Savage is the way to go. Drives better and is more durable than the ae. That sts engine in the pic is a pile of junk and have an xtm 457 in it now and it hauls. Way faster than any other engine I have tried. Beats the hpi 5.9 hands down.

I'm pretty sure I want the 4.6 savage. Quite a bit less money, and you're not getting much more with the xl and 5.9. I like the smaller/shorter frame. My only thing now is, do I want the rtr or the kit? what I like about the rtr is it comes with EVERYTHING but fuel. EVERYTHING. the kit... I'll need to get a starter and every thing else. I have a radio that I can run up 10 different vehicles on, but for just $65 more I get EVERYTHING that's the starter, radio system, extra glow plugs etc. I just like the thought of putting it all together.

The starter box alone is about $45

So, what does that say about the quality of the other stuff in the RTR kit?

It's all the same stuff you would need to get regardless. the only other things that are included are glow plugs and batteries for everything, and the radio. I think it would be money "well spent" in the realm of nitro monster trucks.

This began as a 4.6. Then bought the FastLanemachine lcg ext tvps. Their shock towers and radio tray. Doesn't wheelie as much which I prefer and turns like a truggy. Putting the gas tank up front made a huge difference as well just not shown in this picture. This picture shows mine against a stocker 4.6 X version but is the same size as a regular 4.6. I used to race it but now I race short course 2wd and 4wd classes. The big difference in the longer and wider stance is that you wont be running after it as much from flipping over. Then having to restart it after it stalls. The stock setup will stall quickly when upside down. I hated having to chase it after it wheelied and flipped over. Just my .02.

I was just questioning the quality of the starter and radio that's included (for $65.00) when you say a starter box is $45.00 alone. And you said you don't "need" another radio. Sounds like you've made up your mind.

The stock radio is nothing special really unless you have an older fm radio. I don't know if they offer the 2.4 ghz with the kit or not. But it will have better reception than an fm model. The rotostart system they come with is pretty good. Just get a good battery for it. They will get used up quickly.

Off the nitro subject. Got a question.

What do you all think about team Durango?
